We are praying with you for safety for you and your friends through these months ahead and we thank you for letting us join you in this request.
Scripture shows that God cares for the whole person. The apostle John prayed for his friend Gaius with these words, that he would prosper and be in good health even as his soul was prospering. That prayer reflects a truth found throughout the Bible, that our physical well being and the health of our inner life are connected. Proverbs says a joyful heart is good like a medicine, and we now understand more clearly how worry and heaviness can affect the body while peace and hope bring strength. Our desire for you is not only that God would guard your bodies from harm, but that He would prosper your souls as you walk in truth, so that you may know His peace within.
There is a physical world that we see and touch, and there is also a spiritual world that is just as real though we cannot see it. We often give much attention to caring for our bodies, which is good, but we can neglect the spiritual life. Prayer is one way God feeds and strengthens us spiritually. As you seek Him in prayer for protection, you are drawing near to Him who is your true keeper. He sees what we cannot see and He is able to keep you in ways that go beyond what physical caution alone can do.
Friendship is a precious gift from God. His word says that if we want friends we must show ourselves friendly, and that there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He knows each of your friends by name, and He hears when you bring them before Him one by one. Even when others may not fully understand what you are carrying, He does, and He remains faithful. We pray that your friendships would be strengthened in kindness, encouragement, and truth as you look out for one another.
We are asking the Lord to give you rest and safety, that you may lie down without fear and that none will make you afraid. May He watch over your going out and your coming in, guard you from harm, and give you wisdom in your daily paths. May He keep your hearts trusting in Him, so that you walk through each day to come with confidence not in circumstances but in His care.
Father, we bring this dear one and each friend before You. Cover them with Your hand of protection through this season. Keep them in health, keep their souls prospering in Your truth, and keep them close to Jesus who is the faithful friend. Grant them safety, peace, and joyful hearts as they trust in You.
