Beloved of All
Your request has been heard and I am praying for you in the name of Jesus for relief from this headache and from the cough and runny nose that have come with your allergies. The Lord knows what it is to live in a human body and to feel its weakness and pain. He is not distant from physical suffering but looks on it with compassion and pity, and He understands what you are going through right now.
Jesus showed that compassion again and again. He did not use His power to meet His own physical needs, yet He freely used that same power to meet the needs of others. He healed the sick and those oppressed, and in doing so He fulfilled what Isaiah foretold, that He Himself would bear our sicknesses and carry our infirmities. That shows His authority over the physical realm and His willingness to bring healing. It also shows His heart to minister not only to the spirit but to the body, because He knows we still live in these bodies with all of their frailties.
I believe God still heals today and that He is able to heal. At the same time there is much about healing that we do not fully understand. Scripture shows that sometimes healing is immediate and sometimes it is gradual. There is one account where Jesus touched a blind man and his sight returned in stages, which reminds us that healing does not always come all at once. There are also times when God in His wisdom does not remove an affliction, as when Paul prayed three times concerning his thorn in the flesh and was answered in another way. We do not always know why some are healed quickly and others are not, but we can trust His compassion and His power.
Healing is also divine even when it comes through the natural processes God has placed within our bodies. He created our bodies and the processes by which they recover, and that work is no less from Him because it happens through natural means. There is healing for the body, and there is also healing He brings to the mind and emotions, calming fear and bringing peace when we are worn down by pain. There is even a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body, as the proverb says a joyful heart is like good medicine. The Lord cares for the whole person.
So I pray for you now with confidence that God hears the posture of the heart more than any outward form. Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus I bring this dear one before You who is in pain with a severe headache and suffering with coughing and a running nose from allergies. Have mercy and bring relief. Ease the pain in the head, calm the irritation that causes the cough and congestion, and let the body respond to the healing processes You have ordained. Grant rest and comfort today so that strength may return and daily duties can be carried out. Give wisdom for practical care as well, for cleanliness and rest and whatever helps the body to recover, and guard the heart with Your peace. If it be Your will to bring healing gradually, give patience and hope in the process, and in every way minister Your grace to the spirit as well as to the body. We ask this trusting in Your love and power through Jesus Christ. Amen.
