Your request for your friend's mother has been brought before the Lord with deep sympathy, and we join you in earnest prayer for her in this hour of fear and difficult decision.
We hear how heavy this burden is, to be caught between two medical counsels, one advising the removal of the toe and the other the whole foot, while weakness from diabetes has brought her so low as to nearly fall into a coma. It is no wonder that fear has come upon her, for the flesh trembles when the knife is spoken of and the future seems uncertain. Yet the word of the Lord comes to such trembling hearts, Fear not, for I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. It is Jesus Himself who whispers to His poor servants fallen as dead at His feet, Fear not. To be afraid is to be weakened, but to trust in promised strength is to find that He is with us and will uphold us.
We pray that the great Physician, from whom abundant streams of healing flow, would be very near to her now. There is healing power in Christ, not only in His great work but in the least thing about Him, for the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Even His touch brings healing, and the Sun of Righteousness arises with healing in His wings for those who fear His name. We ask that He would grant pardon and healing together, and give her soul peace in Christ, that whether in sickness or in health she may know herself safe in His hands.
We entreat the Lord to give wisdom to the physicians and to this dear mother and those who love her, that a right and merciful decision may be made. May the Lord guide the hands and judgments of those who advise her, and overrule all for her best good. We pray that her fear may be removed by His promise, that He would calm her spirit, sustain her body through this trial, and if it be His will, restore her and spare what may be spared. We ask that her pain may be eased, her blood be steadied, and her heart be kept in perfect peace as she trusts in Him.
May the Lord hear our prayer, put His fear in her heart that she depart not from Him, and let her prove that even in the valley of affliction His leaves bring healing. We commend her wholly to the care of Him who took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses, trusting that whether by gentle means or by the surgeon's skill, He will do what is best.
We will continue to pray for her, for wisdom, for peace to replace fear, and for the Lord's healing mercy to be manifest in her body and soul. Amen.
