Romans 15:13

That verse holds a prayer I’m lifting for you right now, that God, the very source of hope, would fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him. I notice you ended with a question mark, and I wonder if you’re in a place right now where hope feels distant, or if trusting doesn’t come easily. That’s understandable. So often, we want to understand before we trust. We want the reasons, the timeline, the outcome, and when we can’t see them, our strength falters and our hope wavers.

But the testimony of Scripture, and the experience of so many who have walked through deep suffering, is that God often doesn’t answer our questions the way we want. He simply says, “Trust Me.” I know that can be frustrating. Our minds cry out, “I don’t just want to trust, I want to know!” Yet that’s where faith must come in. Faith isn’t a denial of pain or confusion; it’s holding on to the character of God even when everything around us seems to crumble. A man in the midst of unimaginable loss once cried out, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” That wasn’t blind optimism, it was a deliberate grip on the only solid ground left.

Many of our struggles come from a mistaken idea that if we’re right with God, trouble won’t find us. But that’s not the story the Bible tells. Righteous people suffer, and they often grope for reasons. In those moments, the false hopes we lean on, our own strength, our plans, our sense of control, are like a spider’s web that collapses under weight. The hope that endures is the one anchored in the God who raises the dead, the Redeemer who lives. That hope doesn’t deny the ache; it reaches beyond it.

When your own strength is spent, you’re invited to rest in His. I don’t know exactly what’s making that hope hard to lay hold of right now, but I do know this: God hasn’t forsaken you. He isn’t distant. His correction, if that’s part of this, isn’t rejection, it’s a severe but healing mercy. And when He gives quietness, no one can disturb the peace He brings. That peace doesn’t depend on your ability to figure everything out. It comes from knowing you’re in His hands, even as you stumble through the fog.

So today, I join my prayer to the apostle’s: may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you rely fully on Him, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you overflow with confident hope. Let that hope steady you. Let it be the quiet confidence that no matter what falters, health, relationships, plans, your life is hidden with Christ. Keep bringing your questions to Him; He can handle them. But don’t let the desire for answers drown out the call to simple trust. That’s where the rest lies.
