Rid us of these demented people

We hear your cry for relief and understand the deep frustration and pain that comes from being surrounded by those who bring confusion, chaos, or even harm into your life. The longing for godly, stable, and faithful companionship is a desire placed in your heart by the Lord Himself, for He created us to live in community with one another—especially with those who share our faith and walk in His ways.

First, we must address the language used in your request. While we understand the intensity of your emotions, we are called as believers to speak with love and grace, even toward those who may oppose or trouble us. The Bible instructs us in Matthew 5:44, "But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you." This does not mean we tolerate harmful behavior, but we entrust justice and deliverance to the Lord, who sees all and judges righteously. We must also guard our hearts against bitterness, for Hebrews 12:15 warns, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."

That said, we stand with you in prayer, asking the Lord to remove those who are not aligned with His will from your life. We also pray for discernment, for the enemy often disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), and not every troubled person is meant to be cut off—some may need the light of Christ reflected through you. However, when someone consistently brings toxicity, deception, or ungodliness, we are wise to set boundaries, as Proverbs 22:24-25 tells us, "Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man, and don’t associate with one who harbors anger: lest you learn his ways, and ensnare your soul."

We also lift up your desire for godly companionship. The Lord is faithful to provide friends who will sharpen you, encourage you, and stand by you in times of trial. Proverbs 13:20 says, "One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm." Seek out fellowship with believers who are rooted in the Word, who exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and who will point you toward Christ in every season. Join a Bible-believing church, engage in small groups, and be open to the relationships the Lord brings into your life.

Most importantly, we must examine our own hearts. Are there areas where we have allowed ungodly influences to remain because of fear, familiarity, or even codependency? The Lord may be calling you to step away from certain relationships not as an act of rejection, but as an act of obedience. Psalm 1:1-3 reminds us, "Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this burdened heart to You, knowing that You see the pain, the frustration, and the longing for godly fellowship. Lord, we ask that You would remove from their life those who bring confusion, strife, or ungodliness. Give them wisdom and discernment to recognize the relationships that are not of You, and grant them the courage to step away where necessary. We rebuke the spirit of chaos and deception in Jesus’ name, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

Father, we also ask that You would surround them with godly, faithful believers who will love them as You love them. Bring into their life friends who will sharpen them, encourage them, and walk with them in truth. Let their home be a place of peace, their heart a dwelling place for Your Spirit, and their steps ordered by Your Word. We pray for healing from any wounds caused by past relationships, and we ask that You would restore what has been broken.

Lord, we confess that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). We thank You for the gift of salvation, for the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all unrighteousness, and for the Holy Spirit who guides us into all truth. Help this dear one to walk closely with You, to seek Your face daily, and to find their identity and security in Christ alone.

We declare that the enemy has no foothold in their life. We break every chain of bitterness, unforgiveness, or fear, and we command every ungodly influence to flee in Jesus’ name. Fill them with Your peace, Your joy, and Your love. Let them be a light in this dark world, drawing others to You through their words and actions.

We trust You, Lord, to bring about Your perfect will in this situation. Whether through restoration, removal, or redirection, we know that Your plans are for good and not for harm, to give them a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and let them rest in the knowledge that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
