Restart our relationship

Disciple of Prayer
Pray that ### and I ### can get back together. I would love another chance to be better and to make her happy again. And not just for our sake but for our kids. We were in a 22-year relationship. I'm so desperately alone. I love and miss them all so much.

We hear the deep longing in your heart for reconciliation, and we understand the weight of your love for your family. Twenty-two years is a significant time to share a life with someone, and the pain of separation is real, especially when children are involved. We want to lift this situation before the Lord with sincerity, but we must also approach it with biblical truth and wisdom.

First, we must address the foundation of our prayers. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is only by His blood that we are reconciled to God. If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. The Bible tells us, *"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5). Without Jesus, our prayers cannot reach the throne of grace. If you are already a believer, we rejoice in that, but if not, we invite you to surrender your life to Him today. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16).

Now, regarding your desire to reconcile, we must first examine whether this relationship aligns with God’s design for marriage. The Bible is clear that marriage is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, established by God for His glory and our good. *"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh"* (Genesis 2:24). If your relationship was a marriage in the eyes of God, then we can pray for restoration with hope, but if it was not a biblical marriage, we must address that first. If there was any sexual immorality (fornication) outside of marriage, that must be repented of and forsaken. *"Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4).

If your relationship was indeed a marriage, then we can pray for restoration with faith, knowing that God is able to heal and restore what has been broken. However, restoration requires humility, repentance, and a commitment to godly change. It is not enough to simply desire to "be better"—true transformation comes from the Holy Spirit working in your heart. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Have you examined your own heart and actions to see where you may have fallen short? Are you willing to seek forgiveness, not just from your wife, but from God as well?

We also must consider the well-being of your children. While it is natural to want your family back together, their emotional and spiritual health must be prioritized. If there was any form of abuse, addiction, or unrepentant sin in the relationship, restoration may not be safe or wise without significant change and accountability. *"Fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord"* (Ephesians 6:4). Are you committed to creating a home that reflects Christ’s love and truth?

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this brother who is longing for restoration. Lord, we know that You are a God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). We ask that You would draw near to him in his loneliness and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we pray for clarity and wisdom in this situation. If it is Your will for this marriage to be restored, we ask that You would soften hearts, bring repentance, and pave the way for reconciliation. Help him to examine his own heart and actions, to confess any sin, and to seek Your forgiveness and the forgiveness of his wife. Give him the strength to change and to love her as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25).

Lord, we also pray for his children. Guard their hearts and minds, and let them see the love of Christ in their father. If restoration is not Your will, we ask that You would comfort them all and lead them into Your perfect plan for their lives.

Above all, Father, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation. Whether through restoration or through walking separate paths, may Your name be exalted. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the meantime, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or Christian mentor who can walk alongside you in this journey. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you and hold you accountable. Spend time in God’s Word, allowing Him to speak to your heart and guide your steps. *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6).

If there are specific sins or struggles that contributed to the separation, such as anger, addiction, or infidelity, we urge you to address them with repentance and seek help. God is faithful to forgive and restore, but we must be willing to turn away from sin and pursue righteousness. *"Let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water"* (Hebrews 10:22).

Lastly, remember that your identity is not found in your relationship status but in Christ. You are not defined by your loneliness or your past mistakes. You are a child of God, dearly loved and redeemed. *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). Cling to Him, and He will sustain you.

We're right there with you, brother. We know the pain of separation, the longing for what once was, and the hope for a new beginning. We've been where you are, and we understand the weight of love and the ache of loneliness. We're here to lift you up in prayer, to intercede with you, and to remind you that you're not alone.

First, let's pour out our hearts to our Father in heaven. Lord, we come before You today, carrying this brother's heavy heart. We ask that You would draw near to him in his loneliness, filling him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give him clarity and wisdom in this situation. If it's Your will for this marriage to be restored, soften hearts, bring repentance, and pave the way for reconciliation. Help him to examine his own heart and actions, to confess any sin, and to seek Your forgiveness and the forgiveness of his wife. Give him the strength to change and to love her as Christ loves the church.

Lord, we also pray for his children. Guard their hearts and minds, and let them see the love of Christ in their father. If restoration is not Your will, we ask that You would comfort them all and lead them into Your perfect plan for their lives.

Above all, Father, we pray that You would be glorified in this situation. Whether through restoration or walking separate paths, may Your name be exalted. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the meantime, brother, we encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or Christian mentor who can walk alongside you in this journey. Surround yourself with believers who can pray for you and hold you accountable. Spend time in God's Word, allowing Him to speak to your heart and guide your steps.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings, healing, and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We want you to know how deeply we’ve carried your heart before the Lord these past days. It’s a sacred privilege to stand in agreement with you, lifting up your desire to reconcile with your beloved and to rebuild a home that reflects God’s love and faithfulness. We’ve prayed specifically that the Lord would soften both of your hearts, heal past wounds, and open doors for honest, grace-filled conversation. We’ve asked Him to remind you both of the covenant you once made—not just to each other, but before Him—and to restore what has been broken with wisdom, patience, and His perfect timing.

We’ve also lifted up your children, asking the Father to surround them with His peace and assurance, even in the midst of uncertainty. It’s clear how deeply you love them, and we’ve prayed that they would feel that love in tangible ways, even now. And for you, we’ve asked the Lord to fill the ache of loneliness with His presence, to remind you that He is near to the brokenhearted, and to give you strength as you wait on Him.

If the Lord has already begun to answer this prayer—if there’s been even a small step toward reconciliation or a moment of unexpected peace—we would be so encouraged to hear about it. Your praise report could be a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness to others walking a similar path. But if it feels like silence or distance still remains, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We’re here to keep praying, keep believing, and keep standing with you until the Lord moves in the way only He can.

May He draw near to you in this season, renew your hope, and guide every step you take toward restoration. We continue to pray in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting that He is working even when we can’t yet see it.
