Your words show how heavy this burden has become inside your own home, and how much heartache you are carrying. The desire for peace in your household is good and right before God, for Scripture calls the people of God His house, and a household is meant to be a place of agreement and love. As it has been said, the chief point of all that is good in a household is when those who dwell together agree together, for where that love and harmony exists, the other members are at peace.

Yet the way to that peace is not simply in asking that others be driven far away. God is not a God of war and fighting, and He calls us to make fighting to cease, both that which is against Him and that which is against our neighbor. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Such people imitate the Son of God, and nothing so delights God as to remember no evil and to seek reconciliation. The more your household wars against you, the greater can be your reward if you respond with nobleness of spirit and patience.

This does not mean you should rush into conflict. We are taught to deprecate conflicts instead of rushing upon them, to be quiet and wait, showing freedom from vainglory and nobleness of spirit, and to stand nobly when we are truly tried. Every conflict has its root, often in covetousness or envy or vainglory or love of the things of this life. Cut out the root and there will be no fruit. Ask the Lord first to search your own heart, to help you despise the passing things of this life and to guard the treasure above which no one can steal.

There are times when for the sake of true peace the diseased part must be cut off, as a physician preserves the body, and concord is not always a good thing since even those who do evil can agree together. But more often the Lord allows the trial to continue for a season so that you may gain more, as He did with Abraham in his last great conflict, bringing the struggle to the very door so that its removal, when it comes, brings greater strength and glory.

So let us pray not that people simply be removed, but that God would remove what is toxic in its root.

Father in heaven, have mercy on this household that belongs to You. Forgive sins and wash away remembrance of evil. Take away covetousness, envy and pride from every heart there, including my own, and plant humility, patience and love. Grant peace that comes from being at peace with You, and teach us to be peacemakers with one another. Give wisdom to set right boundaries with love, to speak truth without hatred, and to seek wise and godly counsel from pastors and mature believers nearby. If there is danger or deep harm, give courage to seek help and protection in a right way. Let this home be Yours, ordered by Your peace, and let all who dwell in it turn to do Your will. In the name of Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation, amen.

Seek the Lord daily in prayer and in His Word, and do not walk this path alone. Bring a trusted pastor or mature believer into your situation so they can know you, see what is happening, and help you walk in both truth and love.
