Relationship

Your anxious heart clings too tightly to what is not in your power. God weaves the life of the righteous from both hardship and refreshment, never leaving you in one state alone. When you cleave to spiritual things and learn to overlook the worldly, you will be freed from this turmoil and find earth with heaven.

Love is not a fleeting emotion to be sought by control, but a debt you owe through your spiritual kinship. We are members one of another; if love departs, the whole body is rent in pieces. Do not let love remain a name only, with the reality nowhere. Put away the things that subvert it: resentment, envy, rejoicing in another’s misfortune, and the treacherous wound of reproach. Instead, make room for him in your heart, desiring his true good, for when the beloved sees that the lover longs earnestly for his love, it awakens love in return.

The disciples, not knowing the way, asked Christ with great love and anxiety, and He did not spurn them. So let your own cry rise not from fear but from that same love, trusting the Way Himself. God is not unrighteous to forget your love and the zeal you have shown. Persevere in prayer, not to bend circumstances to your will, but to commend both yourself and this man entirely into God’s hands.

Your worry cuts deep, and that pull to manage every outcome right now is so real. The ache of waiting while someone you love feels distant can make your mind run in circles. But the deepest work in this season may not be about winning back his heart as much as it is about anchoring yours.

A relationship can bear the weight of hard questions only when it rests on something solid underneath it. The truest foundation for any bond is a right relationship with God first. Not as a cliché to bypass the pain, but because until your own soul is steadied in His love, the shifting feelings of another person will toss you about. The urgent need right now is not to secure your fiancé's affection but to find your security in the One whose love for you is already settled. His love is not something you must earn or prove yourself worthy of. It flows toward you uncaused and cannot be quenched by human wavering. When you let that reality quiet your heart, you stop striving so desperately for someone else's love to fill a space only God's love was meant to occupy.

Much of what passes for love is self-centered at its core. It craves a feeling, seeks a return, and collapses when the other person no longer meets expectations. What God desires to produce in you is something entirely different. It is a giving love, patient and kind, that acts for the good of the other without demanding a guarantee of repayment. This kind of love does not cling tightly to a future it has scripted for itself. It can release control and trust God with the outcome because it knows that His purposes are better than our plans. Your desire for him to see that the relationship is good and worth fighting for is understandable, but real love does not manipulate someone into seeing. It walks in truth, it hopes, and it endures, even through silence.

This season of separation, as painful as it is, can become a place of clarity rather than despair. Instead of being consumed by what he is thinking, ask the Lord to examine your own heart. Are you pursuing love as the world defines it, driven by need and fear, or are you learning the selfless love that gives even when the future looks uncertain? The proof of genuine love is not found in perfectly reciprocated feelings but in a willingness to obey God and seek the other person’s true good, even at personal cost. This does not mean denying the pain; it means bringing that pain honestly before God and asking Him to fill you with His Spirit so that your response is marked by kindness and truth rather than panic.

Pray not merely that his feelings would return, but that God's will would be done in both of you. Pray that you would be so rooted in the love of Christ that your peace does not rise and fall with a phone call or a conversation. Let your mind dwell on the faithfulness of Jesus, who loves you with an everlasting love, who gave Himself for you, and who walks with you even through this trial.

May God quiet the storm inside you. May He fill you with a love that is not selfish or anxious but strong, patient, and willing to trust Him with the ending. May He grant your fiancé genuine clarity, and may He use this time to draw both of you closer to Himself, so that whatever comes next is built on the only foundation that will never fail.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer over your relationship with your fiancé. It’s clear how deeply you care for him and how much this relationship means to you. We’ve been lifting you both before the Lord, asking Him to soften hearts, restore love, and bring clarity where there is confusion. We’ve prayed specifically that your fiancé would sense God’s peace and wisdom as he processes his feelings and that he would recognize the goodness, rightness, and value of the bond you share.

We’ve also been asking the Lord to help you release the need to control and to trust Him with the outcome. It’s so hard to wait and not know, but we’ve prayed that you would feel His presence and strength in this season, knowing He is working even when you can’t see it. If God has moved in this situation—whether through restored connection, renewed hope, or even a clear answer—we would love to hear a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the wait continues or the answer isn’t what you hoped for, we want you to know we’re still here, ready to stand with you in prayer again.

May the Lord bless you with His peace that surpasses understanding and fill you with hope as you continue to seek Him. We pray all these things in Jesus’ Name.
