To know beyond a doubt what God wants me to do in my relationship with my ###. I want His will in my life.

We hear your heart’s cry for clarity and surrender to God’s will in your relationship with your boyfriend. First, we must address the importance of seeking God’s design for relationships from the very foundation. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God for His glory and our good. Genesis 2:24 tells us, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall be one flesh." This union is not to be entered into lightly, nor is it to be pursued outside of God’s boundaries.

If you are in a relationship that does not honor God’s design—whether through premarital intimacy, unequal yoking with an unbeliever, or any other compromise—we must rebuke that in Jesus’ name. The apostle Paul warns in 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" If your relationship is not rooted in Christ and aligned with His Word, it cannot bear the fruit of His will. Fornication—sexual intimacy outside of marriage—is a sin that grieves the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20), and it must be repented of and turned away from if it is present in your relationship.

We also encourage you to examine your heart and motives. Are you seeking God’s will, or are you seeking to justify your own desires? Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." True surrender means laying down your plans, your timeline, and even your feelings at the feet of Jesus. It means being willing to walk away if the relationship does not align with His Word, no matter how painful that may be.

Let us pray together for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear sister who is seeking Your will with all her heart. Lord, we ask that You would reveal to her any area of her relationship that does not align with Your Word. Give her the courage to obey You, even when it is difficult. Father, if this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would close the door and make it unmistakably clear. If it is Your will for her to move forward, we pray that You would purify it, sanctify it, and make it a reflection of Your love and holiness.

Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, fear, or compromise in this situation. We declare that Your Word is a lamp to her feet and a light to her path (Psalm 119:105). We ask that You would speak to her clearly through Your Word, through prayer, and through the godly counsel of other believers. Give her peace that surpasses all understanding as she waits on You (Philippians 4:7). Father, we pray that she would not be conformed to the patterns of this world but would be transformed by the renewing of her mind, so that she may prove what is Your good, acceptable, and perfect will (Romans 12:2).

We also pray for her boyfriend, Lord. If he does not know You, we ask that You would draw him to Yourself with cords of love. If he is a believer, we pray that You would grow him in maturity and wisdom, that he would lead with humility and love, as Christ loves the church. Lord, we ask that You would guard their hearts from temptation and help them to flee from sexual immorality. May they honor You with their bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Above all, Father, we pray that Your will would be done in this situation. May Your name be glorified, and may this sister walk in the fullness of Your purpose for her life. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to immerse yourself in God’s Word, spending time in prayer and fasting if necessary, to seek His face. Surround yourself with godly mentors and friends who can speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, God’s timing is perfect, and His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). If this relationship is not part of His plan, trust that He has something better in store for you—a spouse who will love you as Christ loves the church, a marriage that honors Him, and a life that reflects His glory.

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we urge you to do so today. The Bible tells us in Romans 10:9, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we can come to the Father. If you have not made this decision, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw you to repentance and faith in Christ. Would you pray with us now?

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your salvation. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and that You rose again on the third day. I repent of my sins and ask You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Thank You for forgiving me and giving me eternal life. Help me to live for You and to follow Your will in all things. In Your precious name, I pray. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you! We encourage you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and be baptized as a public declaration of your new life in Christ.
