RELATIONSHIP - GODs protection

Choamoor

Disciple of Prayer
Prayers for my relationship. Dear God, Your Word in Matthew 7:7-8 says: 7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. So now Im asking you Lord, that you send the Holy Spirit to guide my boyfriend's thoughts and actions daily. May he seek you Lord, may he seek your word, may he praise you and recognize You do all things for good. Grant him peace and serenity, may he see You working in his life, and that everything will be on the right place. May he talk to me more and communicate about his feelings and ideas for our future together. My wish is that we get to pray each night together, even by phone call, since we live in different countries. Guide me steps too Lord, help me be wise everyday. I pray in the name of your son, Jesus, Amen

We join with you in bringing this relationship before the Lord and we are encouraged by your desire to seek Him and to ask according to His Word. Jesus said in Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened. We praise God that you are asking and seeking and we pray with you that His will be done in this courtship.

We love your heart to pray together and to see your boyfriend drawn closer to the Lord, seeking His Word and recognizing that God works all things together for good as Romans 8:28 teaches. We also hear your longing for peace, for better communication, and for wisdom about your future together. These are good and godly desires, and we want to encourage you to continue to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness as Matthew 6:33 says, trusting that all these things will be given to you as well.

Because you have referred to him as your boyfriend, we want to speak lovingly and clearly about God's design for such a relationship. In Scripture a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship is courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ. Marriage is honored by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman, and we strongly encourage you to view this time as preparation for that holy commitment rather than simply maintaining a relationship. We pray that you both are seeking marriage if it is God's will, and that you are seeking it with one who is a committed follower of Jesus. Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers as 2 Corinthians 6:14 warns, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity or what fellowship has light with darkness. If he is not yet walking faithfully with Christ, we urge you to make his salvation and spiritual growth your foremost prayer, and to seek wise counsel about whether this courtship should continue toward marriage.

We also must address with love the call to purity. God's Word says in Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. And in 1 Corinthians 6:18 we are told to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. If there has been any sexual intimacy outside of marriage, which God calls fornication, we lovingly rebuke it and urge repentance and a commitment to flee from it and to keep yourselves pure until marriage. Even when living in different countries, temptation can come through phone calls, messages, images, and fantasy, so we encourage you to set clear boundaries, to remain accountable, and to keep your nightly prayer time holy and focused on Christ, not on emotional or physical entanglement that would not honor Him. True love waits and protects as 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 teaches, that you should abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor.

We also pray for the communication you desire. God is able to give him a heart to speak openly and to lead spiritually, and to give you wisdom each day as you ask for it. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Philippians 4:6-7 promises that when we bring our requests to God, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We are thankful you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. As John 14:6 declares, Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We encourage you to keep abiding in Him daily.

We pray together now for you both.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear sister and her boyfriend to You. We ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit upon him, guide his thoughts and actions daily, draw him to seek You with all his heart, to love Your Word, to praise You and to trust that You are working all things for good in his life. Grant him Your peace and serenity, and give him clarity to see Your hand at work and to walk in Your purposes. Lord, we ask that You guide her steps as well, grant her wisdom each day, guard her heart and mind, and help her to walk in purity, discernment, and grace. Teach them both to communicate with honesty, kindness, and truth, and to speak about their future in a way that honors You. If it is Your will, lead this courtship toward a godly marriage that glorifies You, and if not, give them the courage to follow Your will with surrender. Help them to pray together faithfully yet purely, to encourage one another in the Lord even across the distance, and to keep their relationship under Your protection and Lordship. We ask that You keep them from fornication and every temptation, and help them to honor You with their bodies and spirits which are Yours. Let Your peace guard them and let Your wisdom direct every decision. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We appreciate you sharing this so openly. Loving someone in another country brings real longing, and your desire to keep God at the center, to grow in peace and in honest communication, and to seek wisdom for your own steps is encouraging to see.

Being far apart can make talking about feelings and hopes for the future harder, because so much understanding usually grows in everyday moments together. Learning to name what you are thinking and feeling in clear, kind words is a skill that grows with practice, and it helps both people feel heard even over the phone.

One simple next step that often helps when you are in different countries is to agree together on a steady, realistic rhythm for connecting. You mentioned wanting to pray together each night by phone. It may help to talk openly with your boyfriend about a time that works for both time zones and what length feels sustainable, so it stays a joy rather than a pressure. Some find it helpful to keep it brief and consistent, each sharing one honest thought from the day and one prayer need, and taking time to listen well in return. As you continue to ask the Lord for wisdom for your own daily steps, keep bringing those small decisions to Him too.

We are joining you in prayer.

Father, we lift this sister and her boyfriend to You. Draw each of them closer to Yourself, grant them peace and clarity, and guide their thoughts, words and decisions according to Your will. Help them to communicate with honesty and kindness and to grow in knowing You more. Lead them step by step with wisdom. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer has come before the throne of grace, and it is a mercy that you are still on praying ground and pleading terms with God. You have quoted truly that our Lord said, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you. Yet let your sense of the poverty of your prayers lead you not to abhor praying, but to pray more earnestly and more humbly.

To pray rightly is to pray in the Holy Spirit, and that is to pray in His power and according to His matter, with fervency and with brokenness of spirit. The habit of praying directly what we are asking, without an instant's pause to consider what we ought to ask, is prejudicial to the spirit of prayer. Only the spiritual man can sigh and cry in his inmost heart before God as the Spirit of Truth leads him. Therefore ask not only for what your heart wishes, but for what God knows to be best, and pray humbly, for the Holy Spirit never puffs us up with pride but convicts of sin and bows us down in contrition.

You ask that the Holy Spirit would guide your boyfriend's thoughts and actions daily, that he would seek the Lord and His Word and find peace and serenity. This is a right desire, and I would turn it into a prayer for his soul's salvation above all else. For prayerless souls are Christless souls, and Christless souls will be lost souls. There is no salvation but through Jesus Christ alone, by grace alone, His finished work received by faith. Pray first that both you and he may know yourselves saved in God's purpose, in Christ's redemption, and in living union with Him, and that you may taste His love and know Him as your God and Father. Then will praise become your life long occupation, the sacrifice of praise offered continually.

Concerning your relationship, hear what Scripture teaches. Marriage is a holy covenant ordained of God, a lifelong union of one man and one woman, wherein the Lord assumes all the responsibilities of that condition when He says, Thy Maker is thine husband. It is not a relationship of original birth but of covenant, and there is a vast distance between the creature and the Creator which only Christ can bridge. Sex and living together belong within that covenant alone, and outside it they are not to be sought nor indulged. If you live in different countries, take that distance as a providence to guard purity and to prove your walk. Be ye in the fear of the Lord all the day long, at your table, in your work, in your solitude, whether well or unwell, whether together or apart.

Therefore having begun to pray, continue praying and continue watching. Do not leave off praying while enemies are still about, and guard with jealous care the faith once delivered to the saints. Ask the Lord to make you wise every day, not conforming your mind to your own wishes but to His mind. Pray that if this friendship be of Him, He would lead it in holiness toward that covenant of marriage, and if it be not of Him, He would make that plain and give you grace to submit. Seek godly counsel, keep your conversation chaste and edifying, and let your praying together, whether by phone or otherwise, be sincere heart prayer, not mere form, seeking first His kingdom.

May the Lord incline His ear unto you and teach you to call upon Him as long as you live. May He show you that answers, like a ship upon a long voyage, may not yet have returned, but that He who has promised is faithful. And may you both be found drawing near to God, that He may draw near to you, and you may rejoice to see signs of His presence in every providence.

We pray with you that the Lord would grant you both repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, that He would guide your steps, keep you from sin, establish you in His Word, and order your future according to His perfect will, for His glory and your lasting good. This we ask in the name of Jesus, the only Mediator, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer has been heard with thankfulness for your desire to seek the Lord together and to build your relationship upon Him. It is good that you have taken hold of the promise in Matthew 7:7-8, for God indeed invites us to ask, to seek, and to knock, and He hears those who come through His Son Jesus Christ, in whom alone is salvation.

We join you in praying that the Holy Spirit will guide both you and your boyfriend daily, that He will draw each of you to the Word of God, to praise, and to trust that God works all things for good for those who love Him. We pray that God will grant him peace and serenity, and a clear sight of the Lord's hand at work in his life, and that He will grant you wisdom for each step you take.

Distance between countries cannot be measured only in miles. As we have learned, the distance to the heavenly city is not defined by local space but by moral disposition, and love that is rooted in Christ does not admit of distances but extends itself even across long intervening ways. Yet that same love must be long suffering and kind, patient and not easily shaken. Whatever falls upon a patient soul, like a spark falling into the deep, is quickly quenched and does not disturb it. Pray for that kind of love for one another, a love that suffers long and is kind, which is the root of all self denial and is born of true love for God and for neighbor.

We also pray that your faith may become effectual. Faith is not only in asking but in living. Without works faith is dead, and the communication of faith becomes effectual when it is accompanied by a life that seeks every good thing which is in Christ Jesus. Your desire to pray together each night, even by phone, is a good and fruitful practice. Continue in it, and also encourage one another to walk in purity, in continence, and in repentance where needed, so that your hope rests not only in affection for one another but in faith. Do not rest only in a carnal relationship, but let Christ bring in that which is of faith, so that your bond is strengthened by obedience to Him.

Remember also that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that God has given intimacy and living together to belong within that covenant alone. While you are apart, use this season to seek God's will above your own wishes, to grow in holiness, and to seek wise counsel. Ask not only that your plans for the future together would come to pass, but that God's perfect will would be done, and that He would make His way plain to you both. The tempter seeks to test faith, and so we pray that you will both stand fast in the Lord, grounded in the Word and in prayer.

We pray now for you both:

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we ask that You pour out Your Holy Spirit upon this sister and upon her boyfriend. Lead them to seek You first, to love Your Word, and to acknowledge You in all their ways. Grant them peace, clarity, and honest and gracious communication about their feelings and their future. Teach them to be long suffering toward one another, to speak the truth in love, and to help one another grow in faith and virtue. Guide their steps with wisdom, keep them in purity, and if it is Your will, lead them together toward a holy marriage that honors You. If not, give them grace to follow Your way with joy. Keep them from temptation and establish them in faith and love until the end. Amen.

Continue to seek Him daily, to knock through prayer and through obedience, and trust that His promise is sure to all who come to Him by faith.

Thank you for sharing your heart and your desire to seek the Lord in this season. It is good that you want to bring your relationship before God and that you take His promise to heart that He invites us to ask, to seek and to knock. That invitation is real and gracious, and it is given to those who come to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.

Scripture teaches that our standing with God does not come from trying hard to keep a law or from earning His favor. It comes as a gift when we put our trust in Jesus, who died for our sins and was raised for our justification. God counts that trust as righteousness. That is the foundation for everything else. When the vertical relationship with God is put right through faith in Christ, it becomes the center that steadies every other relationship in life.

The same Scripture also teaches that a genuine faith is not empty. If faith is real, it will show itself in how we live. We are not made right with God by our works, but true faith will produce fruit in obedience, in a changed life and in choices that honor Him. What we do does not create faith, but it demonstrates whether our faith is living. Just as Abraham was counted righteous because he believed God, his life then showed that belief in his willingness to obey. His faith was not perfect at the start. It grew over time as he walked with God and learned His faithfulness, and God graciously worked with him even through his failures and lapses.

That is helpful to remember as you pray for your boyfriend and for yourself. The best prayer for each of you is first for a growing, personal faith in Christ. Pray that each of you would seek Him, hear His Word, trust Him more deeply, and learn to walk with Him day by day. As faith grows through fellowship with Him, it will naturally affect thoughts, actions, speech and decisions.

It is understandable to long for peace, for clear communication and for shared prayer. Those are good desires, and praying together can be an encouragement when it is done in a way that keeps Christ at the center and honors purity. At the same time, the health of any future marriage depends on the health of each person's walk with God now. A right relationship with God will enhance every other relationship, while trying to fix the human relationship without first tending to the relationship with God leaves things out of balance.

So I would encourage you to keep seeking the Lord for wisdom for your own steps. Ask Him to help you love Him first, to know how much He loves you, and to live in a way that reflects that love. That includes holding to His design for marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and keeping sexual intimacy and living together within that covenant. In a dating relationship, especially across distance, this means maintaining clear boundaries, honesty, accountability and counsel from mature believers who can speak truth with love.

Rather than asking God simply to make this relationship go as you hope, ask Him to make His will clear and to give you both the faith to follow it, whatever it is. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. It trusts God even when the future is not fully visible, and it pleases Him. Without faith it is impossible to please Him, but when we trust Him, He is faithful to lead us.

May the Lord draw both of you closer to Jesus, grant you peace as you trust His good purposes, and give you wisdom to communicate with kindness and truth. May He help you to pray and to seek His Word individually and, as is wise and appropriate, together, always submitting your hopes for the future to His perfect will. If you both continue to grow in faith, your actions will increasingly reflect that faith, and you will be able to discern with greater clarity how He is leading you.

Father, thank You for Your promise that we can come to You through Jesus Christ by faith. I pray for this dear one and for her boyfriend, that each would know You more deeply and trust Your Son fully for salvation and for daily life. Build in them a living faith that bears fruit in obedience and love. Grant them wisdom, purity, peace and a willingness to follow Your will above all else. Guide their communication and their future, and let every step they take be shaped by love for You. In Jesus name, Amen.
