Please pray as I am in the process of trying to reconcile with people I have not spoken to in years. A lot of very negative things have happened between us (most occurring due to spiritual warfare). Pray for peace and healing and salvation for those who need it. Thank you.

We join you in prayer for this desire for reconciliation and we thank you for sharing this burden with us. It is a beautiful and godly desire to seek peace and restoration after a long separation, for we know that God himself is a God of reconciliation.
We hear your heart for peace and healing and salvation, and we agree with you that these are the very things the Lord wants to bring. Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:18 that God reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation. When we pursue reconciliation with others, we are reflecting His heart. We also are reminded in Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. This encourages us that our responsibility is to do what is right before God with humility and love, even while we trust Him with the response of the others.
You mentioned that many negative things happened and that much of it was due to spiritual warfare. We agree that spiritual warfare is real, for Ephesians 6:12 says that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The enemy does seek to steal, kill and destroy and to sow division, bitterness and unforgiveness. At the same time, we are called to walk in personal responsibility, humility and forgiveness, not holding onto blame but bringing every hurt into the light of Christ. We are told in Ephesians 4:32 to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, and in Colossians 3:13 to bear with one another and forgive as the Lord forgave us. True healing comes when we confess our own part, forgive as we have been forgiven, and resist the devil by submitting to God, for James 4:7 promises that when we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us.
We also noticed that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently encourage you in this because it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If we have not already, we must confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, as Romans 10:9 teaches, and we will be saved. It is in His name that reconciliation with God and with one another becomes possible, and it is in His name that we pray.

Pour out Your peace which surpasses all understanding to guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7. Where there has been bitterness, bring forgiveness. We come against every scheme of the enemy that has sought to divide and destroy, and we put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand. Let Your Holy Spirit convict where repentance is needed and soften hearts that have grown hard. We especially pray for salvation for those who do not yet know You, that they may come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior and be reconciled first to You, for only then can true reconciliation with others be sustained. We pray that Your will be done and that if it is possible, You would open the door for restored fellowship that honors You. Help our friend to trust You with the outcome, to not be overcome by evil, but to overcome evil with good as Romans 12:21 teaches, and to leave the results in Your hands. Your longing for reconciliation and for peace has been heard, and we bring it before the throne of grace with you. It is a good and right desire to seek peace where there has been strife, and to ask the Lord to heal what sin and sorrow have wounded.
There is forgiveness with God, and it is to be found only with Him through Jesus Christ His Son. The Scripture saith, There is forgiveness, and this forgiveness is surprising, complete and eternal, purchased by the blood of Jesus. As you seek to be reconciled to others, first look to the forgiveness you have received in Christ, for He not only forgave all our sins at the first, but continues daily to forgive, and His gifts and calling are without repentance. Do as Luther did when in dark distress and believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself, and go your way in peace, and then you shall be fitted to forgive even as you have been forgiven. It is a joint stock business of mutual forgiveness among the people of God, and members of Christian churches should take large shares in this concern, forgiving one another even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us. Remember that this forgiveness is divine, I even I am He that blotteth out thy transgressions, and if you have been the chief of sinners you may have the chief of sinners forgiveness now through Him.
You ask for peace, and perfect peace is found where the mind is stayed upon God because it trusts in Him. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even in this dark world of sin, even with duties pressing and sorrows surging round. That calm so deep it can only be called the peace of God which passes all understanding will keep your heart as you commit these broken relationships and distant loved ones into Jesus keeping, for there they are safe. It is that touch of personal faith which brings peace to the soul, and if you will trust God you shall have peace.
You ask also for healing, and we are reminded that the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction, and when the Lord forgives iniquity He also removes the consequences of sin. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation, virtue enough to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. First forgiveness, then healing, as it was with the man laid in the presence of Jesus, hoping and expecting both.
Let us pray together. O Lord, Thou who art He that blotteth out transgressions for Thine own sake, grant to this Thy servant a fresh sense of Thine own pardoning love through the blood of Jesus. Give a humble and penitent heart, and faith to receive Thy complete forgiveness. Grant also grace to forgive as Thou hast forgiven, not holding debt where Thou hast cancelled it. Scripture teaches that our first and greatest reconciliation must be with God Himself, and this was accomplished not by words only but through the blood of His cross. Through Christ we who were once enemies have been made at peace with the Father, and that peace then becomes the foundation for peace with one another.
We pray that the Lord will work in you and in those from whom you have been separated. We ask that He will grant you wisdom and humility as you seek to pursue peace, and that He will guard your heart in holiness, for we are called to follow peace with all men and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord. True peace is not simply the absence of conflict or agreeing for the sake of agreement, but the peace that comes from Christ and leads to what is right and good. The peacemakers are called sons of God because they seek the kind of peace that Christ Himself brought.
We pray for healing from the wounds that have been left by these negative experiences. We pray that where there has been spiritual opposition and the work of the enemy to divide and destroy, the Lord will bring His protection, truth, and restoration. May He heal what has been broken and redeem what has been lost, according to His will.

Your desire to reconcile after years of silence and hurt is a good and godly desire, and it is right to bring it to the Lord in prayer. The pain you describe is real, and it is also true that we are in a spiritual battle, yet God calls us to take responsibility for our own hearts and to seek His peace first.
Scripture teaches that true peace between people begins with peace with God. While we were still at war with Him, He offered us a peace treaty through the blood of Jesus Christ. He is our peace. When we receive forgiveness through Jesus alone, the war inside us ends, and that inner peace then makes it possible to pursue peace with others. The Lord says He will give peace to those who are far off and to those who are near when they turn to Him, but there is no lasting peace for those who continue in rebellion against Him. That is why your prayer for salvation for those who need it is the most important part of this process.
God also calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. To follow His example means not only asking for forgiveness but extending it, because we have already received so much mercy from Him. Forgiveness does not minimize what happened, but it releases the bitterness that keeps wounds open. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield, and those who sow peace will reap a harvest of righteousness. To be a peacemaker in this way is to show that we are children of God.
It helps to remember that God is sovereign over these relationships and watches over His people with providential care. As in the story of Esther, He can place a person in a particular moment for a particular purpose, and who knows whether you have been brought to this point for such a time as this, to speak truth and grace and to seek healing.
Healing is also part of what you have asked for. God does heal, and He desires to make whole, but His healing is not always immediate or in the form we expect. Sometimes He heals quickly, sometimes He works slowly through a process, and sometimes He allows weakness to remain for a time for His own eternal purposes, to keep our lives centered on Him. The most stable relationships come when the vertical relationship with God is put right first. When He is at the center, the horizontal relationships can begin to find balance. Walking in truth, with your feet prepared by the gospel of peace, will guard you as you take these steps.

When we receive forgiveness through Jesus alone, the war inside us ends, and that inner peace then makes it possible to pursue peace with others. The Lord says He will give peace to those who are far off and to those who are near when they turn to Him, but there is no lasting peace for those who continue in rebellion against Him. That is why your prayer for salvation for those who need it is the most important part of this process.
God also calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. To follow His example means not only asking for forgiveness but extending it, because we have already received so much mercy from Him. Forgiveness does not minimize what happened, but it releases the bitterness that keeps wounds open. The wisdom that comes from above is peaceable, gentle, and willing to yield, and those who sow peace will reap a harvest of righteousness. To be a peacemaker in this way is to show that we are children of God.
It helps to remember that God is sovereign over these relationships and watches over His people with providential care. As in the story of Esther, He can place a person in a particular moment for a particular purpose, and who knows whether you have been brought to this point for such a time as this, to speak truth and grace and to seek healing.
Healing is also part of what you have asked for. God does heal, and He desires to make whole, but His healing is not always immediate or in the form we expect. Sometimes He heals quickly, sometimes He works slowly through a process, and sometimes He allows weakness to remain for a time for His own eternal purposes, to keep our lives centered on Him. The most stable relationships come when the vertical relationship with God is put right first. When He is at the center, the horizontal relationships can begin to find balance. Walking in truth, with your feet prepared by the gospel of peace, will guard you as you take these steps.

Father, we thank You for grace and mercy and peace that come from You through Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that Jesus not only forgives sin but breaks its power and separates us from it. We ask for Your peace to rule in this dear one and in the lives of those from whom there has been estrangement. Where there has been hurt, bring healing according to Your perfect will. Where there is distance from You, grant repentance and salvation through Jesus alone. Give wisdom that is from above, that is peaceable and pure, so that what is sown in peace may bear the fruit of righteousness. Lead each step of reconciliation in truth and love, and let Your will be done. In Jesus name, amen.
