We join you in prayer over this desire for reconciliation and we thank God for stirring this in your heart, for it reflects His own heart toward us. We know that our God is a God of reconciliation, and He has given us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18 says that all things are of God, who reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation. Matthew 5:9 also reminds us that blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
We understand when you say that much bad has happened and that the conflict has roots in spiritual warfare. We agree that spiritual warfare is real, for Ephesians 6:12 tells us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The enemy seeks to steal, kill and destroy relationships through division, bitterness and unforgiveness, and we rebuke his work against you and against these relationships in the name of Jesus. Yet we also gently encourage you to take personal responsibility where needed, to search your own heart before the Lord, and to be willing to confess any part you have played, for reconciliation grows best in humility.
We pray for God's perfect will above our own desire for ease, and we pray for His peace to guard all hearts involved. Romans 12:18 exhorts us that if it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. That verse reminds us that reconciliation requires two willing hearts, and while we are called to pursue peace, the outcome rests with God and with the other person's response. Colossians 3:13 calls us to bear with one another, and forgive each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. And Ephesians 4:32 says be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. We pray that forgiveness already released in your heart will open the way for healing, whether or not every relationship is fully restored in the way you hope.
We noticed your request speaks of God and His will but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 declares there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by the blood of Jesus that we are forgiven and reconciled to God first, and then empowered to be reconciled to one another, so we come to the Father together in His precious name.
We pray together now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who longs for reconciliation. Lord, You know the history, the hurt, the words spoken and the years of silence. You see the schemes of the enemy that have sown division, and we ask in Jesus' name that You would break every chain of bitterness, pride and unforgiveness. Soften every heart involved, including our own, and grant repentance where repentance is needed and grace where grace is needed. Give wisdom from above, James 1:5, to know when to speak, what to say, and when to wait, and let every conversation be seasoned with grace and truth, Colossians 4:6. We pray for Your will to be done above all, that if reconciliation will bring You glory and bring healing, You would make the way smooth and bring a peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, to guard hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. If there are those who are not yet ready to reconcile, give our loved one the strength to remain at peace and to entrust the outcome to You, trusting that You are working even when we cannot see. Heal the wounds of the past, restore what the enemy has stolen where it is Your will, and let Your love be evident in every step. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to continue to bathe this process in prayer before you reach out, to approach each person with humility and without expectation, to listen more than you speak, to be quick to confess and quick to forgive, and to seek wise and godly counsel as you go. Trust the Holy Spirit to guide your timing and your words, and remember that even if ease does not come immediately, God honors obedience and He will give you His peace as you walk in His way.
