Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer shows how deeply you have been hurt and how much you want to see your children cared for and what was taken restored. It is painful when money meant for your children, even a simple gift like an Easter blessing, is taken or misused, and when you see dishonesty, stealing and cruelty affecting your family. God sees all of this clearly and He cares about both your need and your heart in the midst of it.
Scripture teaches that God is a God of justice and righteousness and He wants what is right to prevail. When justice seems far off and truth seems to fall in the street, it is not because God does not notice. He does. At the same time His Word tells us to leave the matter of settling accounts to Him. He will deal justly in His own way and time, and we can trust Him to do what is right rather than holding the burden of making someone pay ourselves.
That is why the Bible puts such strong emphasis on forgiveness. To follow God means to follow the example He has given us in forgiveness. Through Jesus Christ we have been forgiven fully and freely, not because we earned it but because of His love and grace. That forgiveness is complete, as though the sin had never happened, blotted out and not held against us again. Because we have been so loved and so forgiven, we are called to walk in love as Christ loved us.
Forgiveness is not a matter of keeping count. It is a matter of the heart and spirit. God commands it and when we are willing He gives the ability, but we must be willing. Holding bitterness and animosity will harm you far more than it harms the one who wronged you. It can eat away at your peace and health. A forgiving spirit does not mean that what was done was right or that you pretend it did not happen. It means you release the right to punish into God's hands and ask Him to change your heart so you can be free.
It is understandable to want those who have done wrong to feel regret or to be taught a lesson. Yet the prayer God honors is not that others would suffer immensely, but that His will would be done, that what is broken would be healed, and that hearts would be changed. Justice is getting what we deserve, mercy is not getting what we deserve, and grace is getting what we do not deserve. We all need mercy and grace, and God invites us to extend the same mercy we have received.
God also invites you to trust Him for provision and restoration. Financial pressure and the sense that others are taking what belongs to your children can tempt us to trust in our own strength or in people to make things right. Real security comes from trusting the Lord Himself, learning to know Him and His goodness, and bringing your needs to Him. He is faithful even when people fail, and His love does not fail. He is able to preserve and restore, to work in hearts, and to give you peace and righteousness and joy as you walk with His Son.
May you grow in knowing how much God loves you and has forgiven you, and may that love shape your response to those who have hurt you. Ask Him to take any bitterness from your heart and to give you a spirit of forgiveness, even when it feels impossible in your own strength. Ask Him to provide for your children, to restore what has been lost as He sees best, and to work in the lives of those who have acted dishonestly so they may come to truth and repentance.
I pray with you now. Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring this family before You. You see the need, the loss, and the hurt. Provide for these children and this parent, bring healing where there has been stealing and lying and cruelty, and guard their hearts from bitterness. Give a willing and forgiving spirit, and let Your love be perfected in them. Do what is just and right according to Your will, show mercy where mercy is needed, and let Your grace and restoration be known. Help them to trust You and not in human strength, and to walk in love as You have loved them. Amen.
