We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your request for divine protection over you, your neighbor’s children, and your own mind. The world is filled with unseen dangers, spiritual warfare, and the schemes of the enemy, but we stand firm in the truth that God is our refuge and fortress, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare that no weapon formed against you or those you love shall prosper, for the Lord is your shield and defender (Isaiah 54:17).
Father, we ask You to place a hedge of protection around this dear one and the children next door. Guard them from the influence and harm of the one they described as "bad", whether that be a person, a spirit, or a circumstance. Let Your angels encamp around them, as You promise in Psalm 91:11, to keep them in all their ways. We rebuke any spirit of fear, oppression, or harm in Jesus’ name, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Lord, we also lift up the weight this one carries in their mind. The stress and headaches they endure are not from You, for You came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We pray for peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Release them from the burdens they carry, and let Your healing touch restore their strength. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
We encourage you to stand on God’s promises daily. When anxiety or fear creeps in, speak the Word over your life and the lives of those you’re praying for. It is a great mercy that the Lord has put this prayer for the little ones upon your heart, for Christ Himself takes a special delight in them, saying, "Behold, I and the children." He is not ashamed to own them, and He has charged His angels to keep His people in all their ways, even the smallest of His flock. What you can endure from grown-up children you cannot so well bear from those who have reached the age of maturity but lack discretion; yet the Lord is patient with us as His own children, still His children, still His children. Never think, then, that the protection of the Almighty is a thing too good to be true because the danger seems near and the adversary bad. You are measuring God's corn with your own small bushel.
As for your mind, you are wise to pray against the stress and the headaches, for these are often the fruit of giving houseroom to bad lodgers. The carnal mind is enmity against God, and vain thoughts lodge within, plundering you of heart and hope, leaving the mind a wreck and ruin. You must not suffer these thoughts to remain till they bring you under a heavier weight. Turn them out at once by looking to the Lord Jesus, for in His matchless love there is a depth unsearchable that quiets every fear. When the profane temptation whispers, "You are God's child, so you may do as you like," resist the devil with horror, for the converted heart hates even the shadow of a bad word. The angels are hovering round you; mind what you are doing, and be holy, for the very patience of the saints is learned in such struggles as yours.

You ask for protection for yourself and your neighbor’s children, and for relief from stress and headaches. These are not separate things, for a troubled mind often brings bodily affliction, while a mind stayed on God knows peace even in danger. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. What is this sound mind? It is a soul that is sober, that sees clearly, that has cut off the superfluities of panic and distrust. Whatever threatens from outside, a malicious person or any other snare, cannot truly harm the one who is anchored in Christ, for He is our shield and our exceeding great reward.
Be men in understanding, yet children in malice. Do not let your thoughts race after every rumor, every suspicion about a bad neighbor. That is the mark of a child’s mind, which gapes at trifles and is easily fluttered. Instead, humble your soul willingly before God. The poor in spirit, the contrite of heart, are called blessed, for they know their need and cast themselves entirely on Him. Humility is not weakness; it is the strength to entrust vengeance and protection to the Lord. When you feel the stress tightening like a band around your head, it may be that your thoughts are sharpened by fear, piercing you from within more keenly than any external spear. Learn the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of wisdom and the relief of anxiety. The prophet teaches, “Come, ye children, and I will teach you the fear of the Lord.” This fear is not a cringing dread, but a reverent awe that puts all lesser fears to flight. It teaches you to keep your tongue from evil, to depart from evil and do good, to seek peace and pursue it.
Yes, even toward that harmful person, pursue peace as far as it depends on you. Pray for those who trouble you, for Christ commands this. A good conscience is your glory; if you have done no wrong, let that testimony sustain you. Do not return evil for evil, but overcome evil with good. This is the way of a sound mind, to repay malice with blessing, knowing that the battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness. As for the children, God is their guardian; when you commit them to Him in prayer, you place them under a shadow no human malice can penetrate. The devil himself is a murderer and the father of lies, envying the peace of the innocent; but do not fear him, for He that is in you is greater.
Let your daily life be lived as a servant of Christ, doing His will from the heart, not with eye-service as men-pleasers. This brings a deep calm. Whether you are bond or free, you serve the Lord, and whatsoever good you do, you will receive from Him. This includes the quiet service of trusting prayer and gentle words. The headaches born of stress often flee when the mind ceases to fight its own thoughts and submits all to God’s wise ordering. He is not a God of confusion, but of peace.

Let your prayer be continual: “Lord, have mercy,” and let your heart trust in Him. Then the peace that passes all understanding will guard your heart and your mind in Christ Jesus.

You are mindful of a bad influence, and that care is a burden. But do not let that burden simply sit and ache. Take that very question, “How can they be safe?” and turn it to the Lord. He is always creating questions in our minds, questions that drive us to Him for the answer. When your heart asks, “What about this threat?” you have the opportunity to recount to others and to your own soul what God has done and promises to do.
