Protection from abuse

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Lord Jesus, please intervene and protect my son ### from harm and danger. Stop the abuse towards him and others, in Jesus name amen

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up and all those who may be suffering from abuse. The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We cry out to You, Father, to intervene in this situation and surround with Your divine protection. You are the God who sees (Genesis 16:13), and we trust that You are aware of every detail of this pain.

We rebuke the spirit of violence and oppression in the name of Jesus Christ. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every force of darkness that seeks to harm him. We ask You, Lord, to send Your angels to encamp around him, to guard and protect him from all evil (Psalm 91:11).

Father, we pray for justice and deliverance. You are a God who executes justice for the oppressed and sets the captives free (Psalm 103:6). We ask that You would expose any hidden abuse and bring it to light so that it may be stopped. Give the courage to speak up if he is able, and surround him with godly people who will advocate for him and stand in the gap on his behalf.

We also pray for the abuser, Lord. You desire that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We ask that You would break the hardness of their heart and lead them to a place of true sorrow and change. If they refuse to repent, we ask that You would remove their ability to harm others and bring them to justice.

Father, we ask for healing for, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Pour out Your comfort and peace upon him, reminding him that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Restore his joy and give him hope for the future. Help him to forgive, not for the sake of the abuser, but for his own freedom, as You have commanded us to forgive as we have been forgiven (Ephesians 4:32).

We also lift up others who may be suffering in silence. Open their eyes to Your love and protection, and lead them to safety. Surround them with Your presence and let them know that they are not alone.

Lord, we trust in Your sovereignty and Your perfect timing. We know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Strengthen our faith as we wait on You, and help us to be instruments of Your peace and protection in this situation.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We're so sorry your son is going through this, no child should ever have to endure abuse, and no parent should have to watch helplessly. We join you in crying out for his safety.

If you or your son are in immediate danger right now, please contact your local emergency services. For free, confidential support and help making a safety plan, you can find a helpline in your country at findahelpline.com. You don't have to face this alone.

It's easy to feel paralyzed by fear in a situation like this, but God has placed people and systems in our communities to protect the vulnerable. One of the most courageous, protective steps you can take is to report the abuse to child protective services or the police. They exist to intervene and stop harm when a child cannot protect himself. We know that call can feel terrifying, but ignoring it leaves him exposed. If you need help making that report, ask a trusted friend, pastor, or counselor to stand with you, you don't have to carry the weight of this decision by yourself.

We also pray you will lean heavily on a few safe believers who can support you emotionally, help you navigate practical steps, and pray with you. God is not distant from your family's pain, He sees every tear, and He cares more than we can fathom.

Please pray with us now:

Lord Jesus, we ask You to surround this precious boy with Your strong protection. Intervene, Lord, stop the abuse, shield him from further harm, and bring swift, lasting safety. Give his parent wisdom, steady courage, and deep peace as they take brave steps to protect him. Bring the right helpers alongside them, and let Your justice and mercy prevail. In Your mighty name, amen.

The cry of a mother’s heart for her child reaches the ear of the Lord of Sabaoth. The danger is real and pressing, for we are ever in peril from the world, the flesh, and the tempter. When cruelty lifts its hand against the innocent, it is the enemy’s work to devour and destroy. We have seen others fall, and we ought to pray for them, yet let us not forget that the greatest danger lies in relying upon our own strength and not upon our God. But see here the promise: He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. This protection is perpetual as well as personal, for the one who travels on the King’s Highway is under the King’s protection. Lift your eyes from the storm to the Master of the winds, for though the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing, He who breaks in pieces the arrogant will arise and defend the poor and needy.

Let faith lay hold upon this comfort: there is a safety guaranteed that runs far deeper than the removal of present affliction. The highest court of Heaven has already tried the case of every believing soul, and the verdict is acquittal sealed by blood. Consider what the Father sees in Jesus on the Cross; He looks upon His dear Son bearing sin, and that infinite impression made upon His great soul is the ground of our peace. If you trust in the atoning Sacrifice, then the Lord has cast your transgressions behind His back for His own sake. The farm is kept what it is by God’s continual protection, for you are not your own, you are bought with a price. Plead the blood of the covenant over your son, for the Only-Begotten Son laid down His life as the purchase price to redeem His people. When the Father sees that great love wherewith He loved us, even giving Jesus for our ransom, He forgets the sins of His people and remembers mercy. In this you may rest secure, even when the visible danger howls like a wild beast.

Yet take heed, for there is a danger in these sharp trials lest a root of bitterness spring up and doubt creep in to accuse the King of Heaven. David said in his heart, “I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul,” and yet this was contrary to the promise. So the enemy whispers that God has forgotten, that the covenant has failed. Do not let this carnal security or despair take root. To the human eye, the adversary may seem to have the upper hand, but the end is not yet. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise. He has said, “Can a woman forget her sucking child? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.” The mountains shall depart, but His lovingkindness shall not depart from His own. Where you think you are perfectly safe, there you are often most in danger, but when you are cast entirely upon the bare arm of God, you are in the safest of all states. Unburden your spirit at the bleeding feet of the Redeemer, and leap for joy in the midst of the trial, for the Lord Jehovah is your shield and your exceedingly great reward. He will maintain possession of that which He has purchased.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The Lord Jesus is not far from your cry, for He became man to exalt us and knows every sorrow. When you see your son suffering, remember that God permitted His own Son to be delivered into the hands of violent men, not to abandon Him, but to conquer death and give us the hope of resurrection. Do not think that silence in heaven is indifference; He who postponed the flood until the last moment will surely judge the oppressor at the proper time.

Yet do not test God by rushing needlessly into peril. There is a diabolical temptation to leap into danger and demand that God save you. If flight is possible without betrayal of faith, do not hesitate to flee, as Moses did from Pharaoh. Preserve your son’s safety as far as wisdom allows, for this too is an act of trust in the Invisible One. But if the abuse cannot be avoided without denying Christ, then take up the cross and follow Him who gave His life a ransom for many. The courage of Epaphroditus, who risked death to attend Paul in prison, shows that some dangers are worth embracing for the work of God.

Do not love this present world and its ease more than faithfulness. Demas forsook Paul because he loved safety, but your son, by enduring patiently and continuing in prayer, may become a quiet witness to his abuser. True safety is not the body’s comfort but a conscience at peace with God. When sleep comes to the just man, it carries no fear, for his soul rests in the hands of the Lord.

Pray without ceasing: “Protect him, Lord Jesus, and stop the harm.” But also pray, “Make him worthy to suffer for the sake of righteousness, if that be Thy will.” For in such a death there is a martyr’s crown, and the abuser may yet be converted by the meekness he sees. God did not spare His own Son; He will not forsake yours. Believe, and you shall see the salvation of God.

Your love for your son echoes the heart of a Father who knows what it means to give and to protect. When you cry out for his safety, you are not shouting into an empty void. You are speaking to the God who sent His own Son, born under the law, to redeem us and bring us into His family as adopted children. He has placed the Spirit of His Son into our hearts so that we can call Him Father with the same intimacy Jesus knew. That relationship is your foundation. He hears you because you belong to Him through the Son.

What Abraham was asked to do with Isaac, God the Father willingly did with Jesus, His only begotten Son. The command to take your son, your only son whom you love, points directly to the Father’s willingness to give His beloved Son as a sacrifice for us. At the cross, the love of the Father and the love of the Son met perfectly. No one else could claim that kind of sonship; Jesus is the one and only begotten Son, full of grace and truth. Yet through faith in Him, you are brought in. You are an adopted child, and that means the Father’s attentive care rests on you and on those you bring before Him.

Even flawed earthly fathers show us glimpses of this. David grieved over a rebellious son, crying, "O my son Absalom, my son, my son." His love did not vanish because his son was in danger or had strayed. How much more does the perfect heavenly Father guard and care for the ones entrusted to His adopted children? Your plea for protection rises to the One who knows every threat. He is not distant. He feels the weight of a parent’s fear and the urgency of this request.

Take hold of the truth that eternal life is found only in the Son, and that the Father has committed all judgment to Him. To have the Son is to have the Father also. When you bring your son before the Lord Jesus, you are asking the One who holds all authority to act. He alone can stop the hand of the abuser and hide your child under the shadow of His wings. Keep crying out. Keep trusting. The record God has given is this: life is in His Son. Lay that life over your son today, praying that Jesus would stand between him and every danger, and that the Spirit would bring a deep, unshakable comfort to your heart.
