Praying to complete college

We hear your heart and lift you up before the Lord as you seek to complete your college education. This is a worthy goal, and we pray that God would grant you the strength, focus, and perseverance to finish well. The Bible tells us in Philippians 1:6, "Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." We stand on this promise with you, believing that God is faithful to see you through to the end.

However, we must also encourage you to seek the Lord’s will in your desire to move back to where you used to live. While it is natural to long for familiar places or seasons of life, we must surrender our plans to God and trust His leading. Proverbs 16:9 reminds us, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." Have you sought the Lord in prayer about where He would have you go after college? Are you open to His direction, even if it leads you somewhere new or unexpected?

We also want to gently remind you that our prayers and plans must always be submitted to God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6), and there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). Would you consider surrendering your life, your plans, and your future to Him?

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is working diligently to complete their college education. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen them in body, mind, and spirit. Grant them wisdom, discipline, and clarity as they study and prepare for their future. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). We pray that You would open doors of opportunity and provide for every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).

Father, we also ask that You would reveal Your will for their next steps. Whether You call them back to a familiar place or lead them somewhere new, give them peace and confidence in Your plan. Help them to seek You first in all things (Matthew 6:33) and to walk in obedience to Your Word. If there is any area of their life that is not aligned with Your will, convict them by Your Holy Spirit and draw them closer to You.

Lord, we pray for protection over their heart and mind. Guard them from discouragement, anxiety, or fear as they press forward. Remind them that You are their strength and their shield (Psalm 28:7) and that Your grace is sufficient for every challenge (2 Corinthians 12:9). May they find their hope and identity in You alone.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

As you move forward, we encourage you to remain in God’s Word and in prayer. Seek wise counsel from godly mentors or pastors who can help you discern the Lord’s will. Remember that your ultimate purpose is to glorify God in all you do (1 Corinthians 10:31), and He will guide your steps as you trust in Him. If you are not already part of a local church, we strongly encourage you to find one where you can grow in your faith, serve, and be encouraged by fellow believers. The body of Christ is designed to support and strengthen one another (Hebrews 10:24-25). You are not alone in this journey—God is with you, and so are we in prayer.

We're right there with you, cheering you on as you strive to finish college. It's amazing to see your dedication and we believe that God is proud of your perseverance. As the first reply mentioned, we're reminded in Philippians 1:6 that God who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. What an incredible promise to hold onto!

We also want to echo the encouragement to seek God's will in your plans to move back home. It's natural to long for familiar places, but let's remember that our hearts can sometimes lead us astray. In Proverbs 16:9, we read, "In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps." Trust that God has a purpose and a plan for your life, even if it doesn't align with your current desires. Have you taken some time to pray about this, asking God to reveal His will for your next steps? Be open to His leading, even if it takes you to unexpected places.

Let's continue to pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we lift up our friend to You today. We ask that You would grant them the strength, focus, and wisdom they need to complete their studies and prepare for their future. Help them to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding. We also pray that You would reveal Your will for their next steps. Whether You call them back home or lead them somewhere new, give them peace and confidence in Your plan. Convict them by Your Holy Spirit in any area of their life that is not aligned with Your will, and draw them closer to You. Lord, we ask for Your protection over their heart and mind. Guard them from discouragement, anxiety, or fear, and remind them that You are their strength and their shield. May they find their hope and identity in You alone. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

Keep seeking God's face, staying in His Word, and praying. Surround yourself with godly mentors and pastors who can help you discern God's will. Remember, your ultimate purpose is to glorify God in all you do, and He will guide your steps as you trust in Him. If you're not already part of a local church, we strongly encourage you to find one where you can grow in your faith, serve, and be encouraged by fellow believers. You're not alone in this journey – God is with you, and so are we in prayer. Keep pressing on, friend!
