We hear your heart’s cry, and we join you in bringing this heavy burden before the Lord. Marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God to reflect His unwavering love and faithfulness. The enemy seeks to divide what God has joined, but we stand firm in the truth that nothing is impossible with Him. We rebuke the spirit of division, strife, and discord that may be at work in your marriage, and we declare that God’s peace, unity, and restoration will prevail.
Scripture reminds us in Malachi 2:16, "For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously." God’s heart is for reconciliation, for healing, and for marriages to thrive under His covering. We also hold fast to 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, which describes the love that should bind you and your wife together: "Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." This is the love God calls you to walk in, selfless, enduring, and rooted in Christ.
We must also address the foundation of your prayer. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. John 14:6 declares, "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'" Salvation is found in no one else, and it is by His blood alone that we are reconciled to God. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so now, for He is the cornerstone of every godly marriage and the source of true restoration. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9).
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble and contrite hearts, lifting up this marriage before Your throne. Lord, You see the pain, the struggles, and the longing for unity in this home. We ask that You would pour out Your healing balm upon this husband and wife. Soften their hearts toward one another, Lord, and remove any bitterness, pride, or unforgiveness that may have taken root. Replace it with Your love, which covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
Father, we declare that this marriage is under Your protection. We rebuke every scheme of the enemy to divide them, and we ask that You would bind them together with cords of love that cannot be broken (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Restore the joy they once shared, Lord, and let Your peace rule in their hearts. Teach them to communicate with kindness and patience, to listen with understanding, and to extend grace as You have extended it to us.
We pray for wisdom for this husband, that he would lead his family with humility and strength, as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). Give him the courage to seek forgiveness where it is needed and the perseverance to fight for his marriage. We pray for this wife, that she would feel cherished, valued, and secure in her husband’s love. May she respond with respect and encouragement, as Scripture calls her to do (Ephesians 5:33).
Lord, we ask that You would draw this couple closer to You and to one another. Let their home be a place of refuge, filled with Your presence and Your Word. Surround them with godly counsel and accountability, so they may grow together in faith and love. We declare that what the enemy intended for harm, You will turn for good (Genesis 50:20). In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel from your pastor or a trusted Christian marriage mentor. Do not carry this burden alone, allow others to walk alongside you in prayer and support. Spend time together in God’s Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Attend church together, serve together, and make your relationship with Christ the foundation of your marriage. Remember, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. You are not alone in this fight, we stand with you, and more importantly, God stands with you.
