Beloved of All
Your request for prayer for you and your son has been heard, and we are joining you in bringing these burdens before the Lord.
You asked for discernment, guidance, wisdom, strength and knowledge, and Scripture shows that is the best thing to ask for. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, and with all your getting get understanding. When wisdom is loved and not forsaken, she preserves and keeps those who walk in her ways. She cries out openly and invites all who will listen, and her voice is the voice of the Lord Himself, for in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
There are two kinds of wisdom. One is earthly, sensual, and leads to envy and strife and every evil work. The other is the wisdom that comes from above. That wisdom is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits. It leads to a life of purity and holiness and peace. You can tell which wisdom a person is following by the fruit it produces in their life. Our prayer is that you and your son will walk in that heavenly wisdom, that you will say to wisdom, you are my sister, and call understanding your close kin, so that you will be kept from evil and be able to ponder the path of your feet and look straight ahead without turning to the right or to the left.
You also asked for protection and that no weapon formed against you would prosper. We stand on that promise from Isaiah, that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. At the same time the Bible does not promise that as children of God we will have no problems, suffering or battles. We are not immune from hurts and trials, but we do have the confidence that the Lord delivers us out of all our distresses. He is the one who delivers and will yet deliver.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus we lift up this parent and this son to You. We ask that You place Your hand of protection over them at home, at work, and wherever they go, and that You would cause every plan and weapon formed against them to fail. Grant to them the spirit of wisdom and understanding and knowledge. Lead them by Your wisdom that is pure and peaceable, and give them clear discernment to know the right path, guidance for each decision, and strength to walk in it. Keep their feet from evil and establish all their ways before You. Help them to love Your commandments and to keep Your words, and to trust not in the wisdom of this world which comes to nothing, but in Your power and truth. Bring peace into their relationships with neighbors, coworkers and managers, and let the fruit of righteousness be sown in peace in their lives. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and salvation. Amen.
