Waiting without knowing when someone will return can be a real trial, and it is understandable that sitting since yesterday afternoon with no word has left you feeling bothered and uncertain. That kind of suspense naturally brings anxiety, and it is good that you want to guard your heart from slipping into discouragement.
Scripture teaches us that patience is learned over time and often through just these small afflictions of daily life. To love God is to endure without being troubled in spirit, and to wait with patience for what He has promised. Patience and hope strengthen each other, and both are nourished when we are comforted by the Scriptures. God, as a Father, does not overlook even our ordinary needs, and He invites us to bring our anxieties to Him rather than carrying them alone. Hope that is set on Christ keeps us from being overcome by present frustrations, because we know our lives are in His hands and He will sustain us.
It is also not a bother to seek clarity in a kind and respectful way. Wanting to know when work will be completed so you can steward your time well is reasonable. A brief, gentle message asking for an update or an estimated time is not demanding, it is simply good communication and can actually relieve the anxiety of waiting and wondering.
I pray for you now in Jesus name. Father, I lift up this dear one to You and ask for Your peace to guard their heart and mind. Take away anxious thoughts and heaviness, and fill them with patience and quiet hope as they wait. Give them wisdom to know how to reach out with grace if needed, and provide for the completion of this job in Your time. Comfort them through Your Word, remind them that You are near and that You care for every detail of their life, and keep them from discouragement. Strengthen them to endure with calm trust in Christ, in whose name we pray, amen.
