prayers

Waiting without knowing when someone will return can be a real trial, and it is understandable that sitting since yesterday afternoon with no word has left you feeling bothered and uncertain. That kind of suspense naturally brings anxiety, and it is good that you want to guard your heart from slipping into discouragement.

Scripture teaches us that patience is learned over time and often through just these small afflictions of daily life. To love God is to endure without being troubled in spirit, and to wait with patience for what He has promised. Patience and hope strengthen each other, and both are nourished when we are comforted by the Scriptures. God, as a Father, does not overlook even our ordinary needs, and He invites us to bring our anxieties to Him rather than carrying them alone. Hope that is set on Christ keeps us from being overcome by present frustrations, because we know our lives are in His hands and He will sustain us.

It is also not a bother to seek clarity in a kind and respectful way. Wanting to know when work will be completed so you can steward your time well is reasonable. A brief, gentle message asking for an update or an estimated time is not demanding, it is simply good communication and can actually relieve the anxiety of waiting and wondering.

I pray for you now in Jesus name. Father, I lift up this dear one to You and ask for Your peace to guard their heart and mind. Take away anxious thoughts and heaviness, and fill them with patience and quiet hope as they wait. Give them wisdom to know how to reach out with grace if needed, and provide for the completion of this job in Your time. Comfort them through Your Word, remind them that You are near and that You care for every detail of their life, and keep them from discouragement. Strengthen them to endure with calm trust in Christ, in whose name we pray, amen.

Thank you for sharing what is on your heart, and for asking for prayer. Waiting without knowing what will happen next is one of the hardest things to walk through, and it is understandable that sitting since yesterday wondering when the work will be finished has left you feeling bothered and low.

God understands that struggle with waiting. Scripture speaks often about patience, not as simply putting up with delay, but as a hopeful waiting upon the Lord. It is confidence that God is at work even when we cannot see how, and that His timing is good. We are told that we have need of patience so that after we have done what is right before Him we may receive what He has promised, and that those who went before us inherited the promises through faith and patience. James encourages us to be patient and to establish our hearts, using the picture of a farmer who waits for the precious fruit of the earth, trusting for the early and latter rains. The farmer cannot hurry the harvest, but he waits with expectation because he knows the rain will come.

That same patience is rooted in who God is. He is called the God of patience and comfort. He is long suffering and faithful to bring His purposes to pass in His time. Abraham waited many years for the son who had been promised, Job endured great affliction with endurance, and the prophets waited for God to fulfill His word. In each case God proved Himself full of pity and tender mercy. The Scriptures themselves are given to bring us patience and comfort so that we might have hope. While we wait for what we do not yet see, hope sustains us because we know His word is true.

In your situation, that hope can steady you while you wait for this job to be completed. It is also not wrong to seek a gentle and clear answer. Patience does not require you to sit in anxious uncertainty or to feel you are a bother for asking a simple and respectful question. To speak in a way that builds up and brings grace is good, and a kind inquiry about when the worker plans to return is a proper and caring way to communicate for both of you. It can bring peace to your mind and allow you to make wise plans for your day.

May the Lord lift the heaviness you feel and guard you from discouragement. May He give you quiet confidence as you wait, and comfort through His word as you trust Him with this small but real concern.

Let us pray. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this need before You. You see the waiting and the uncertainty, and the way it weighs on the heart. Grant patience that is anchored in hope, and comfort that comes from Your promises. Guard against depression and anxious thoughts, and fill the heart with Your peace. Give wisdom to know how to communicate with grace, and provide for the completion of this work in Your time. Help there to be rest in knowing that You are in control and that You care about every detail. We trust You to work and to sustain. In Jesus name, amen.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer regarding the frustration and waiting you have been experiencing while a job in your home remains unfinished.

We have been continuing to pray for you as you have been sitting and wondering when the man doing this work for you would return and communicate with you, and we understand how that uncertainty has started to bother you and weigh on your spirit, especially as you do not want to feel as though you are bothering him by asking and you are trying not to become anxious or depressed while you wait. We have asked the Lord to give you His peace that passes understanding and to guard your heart and mind, as we are reminded in Phil 4:6 and Phil 4:7, and to help you cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you in 1 Peter 5:7.

We pray in Jesus Name that God will give you wisdom to know how and when to reach out, that He will move on the heart of the worker to communicate clearly and return to finish what he started in a timely way, and that He will grant you patience, calm and encouragement while you wait so that discouragement does not take hold.

If your request was answered and the communication came or the job has been completed or you have found peace in the waiting, please post a praise report and let us all know so we may rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered and you are still waiting and feeling bothered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. We pray all of this in Jesus Name, Amen.
