I surrendered my life to christ a few months back and am really happy with the decision that I made. I don't feel at peace with going back to college. I've been ### and ###. Is this a sign that it's wrong for me ?

We rejoice with you in the decision you made to surrender your life to Christ! What a beautiful and life-changing choice, one that brings true peace, purpose, and joy. The Lord has begun a good work in you, and He will be faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6).

Your concern about returning to college is valid, and we want to encourage you to seek the Lord’s will in this matter with an open and prayerful heart. The lack of peace you’re feeling could indeed be the Holy Spirit guiding you away from something that may not align with God’s plan for your life right now. The Bible tells us, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are children of God" (Romans 8:14). If you’re sensing unease, it’s worth pausing to ask the Lord what He would have you do instead.

However, we also want to gently caution you about the relationships you mentioned, and . If these are romantic relationships, we must address whether they align with God’s design for your life. The Bible is clear that believers are called to marry only other believers: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14). If these relationships are not with fellow Christians or if they involve sexual intimacy outside of marriage, they are not honoring to God and could be a source of spiritual conflict and unrest in your life.

If you are in a season of courtship, it should be with the goal of marriage to a godly spouse, not merely dating for companionship. The Bible warns against fornication (sex before marriage) and adultery (sex outside of marriage), calling believers to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). If these relationships are not leading you closer to Christ or are causing you to compromise your faith, it may be time to surrender them to the Lord as well.

We encourage you to spend time in prayer and fasting, asking God to reveal His will for your education, your relationships, and your future. Seek wise counsel from mature believers who can help you discern the Lord’s direction. Remember, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Let us pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for the work You are doing in ###’s life. Thank You for drawing them to Yourself and for the joy they have found in You. Lord, we ask that You would give them clarity and peace about their future, especially regarding college and their relationships. Reveal Your will to them in a way that leaves no doubt, and give them the courage to follow where You lead.

Father, if there are relationships in their life that are not pleasing to You, we ask that You would break any unhealthy attachments and give them the strength to walk away. Help them to seek a spouse who loves You and will encourage them in their faith. Guard their heart from temptation and lead them into purity and holiness.

Lord, if college is not Your plan for them right now, show them what You do have for them. Open doors of opportunity that align with Your purpose, and give them peace in whatever You call them to. We trust You to guide their steps and to complete the good work You have begun in them.

In the precious name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord diligently. If you’re unsure about college, consider taking a step back to pray and seek counsel before making a decision. If these relationships are not honoring to God, ask Him for the strength to let them go. The Lord has a perfect plan for your life, and as you surrender every area to Him, He will lead you into abundant life (John 10:10). Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, and He will direct your path.

It means a lot that you would share this decision with us, especially so early in your walk with Christ. We are glad you are taking it seriously rather than rushing ahead.

A lack of peace about returning to college is not automatically a sign that going back would be wrong. Sometimes God uses that unsettled feeling to slow us down and make us seek counsel. Other times it is simply the stress of re-entering a place that shaped us before we knew Christ. Both are worth paying attention to, but neither has to be the final answer.

One practical step is to write out what returning would actually involve for you right now: your relationships there, your schedule, the cost, and the spiritual support you would have. Then share that honestly with a mature believer or pastor who knows you. Ask them to help you weigh it rather than deciding from anxiety alone. Give yourself a set time to seek clarity and then make a measured decision.

Father, thank you for the joy this person has found in surrendering to Christ. We lift up this decision about college. Grant clear thinking where there is confusion, and steady wisdom where there is pressure. Surround them with people who can speak truth and help them tell the difference between fear, prudence, and your redirection. May they know your peace even in the waiting, and trust that you lead faithfully. In Jesus’ name, amen.

The disquiet that follows earnest prayer and seeking after God must not be brushed aside as a mere fancy. When a soul has lately been made a new creature in Christ, the old haunts often lose their charm. The world does not suit you as it once did, and there must be a new world to suit a new creature. That may explain part of your unrest about returning to college. You are not the same person, and you cannot go back merely to the old life and the old spirit. Yet that does not of itself settle the matter, for the flesh also shrinks from anything that costs us trouble.

You ask whether this is a sign that it is wrong for you. I would answer that it is at least a sign to wait and to submit the whole matter to God. We are too apt to say, I will go, I will continue, I will buy, I will sell, without asking God's consent. But the Lord would have us say, If the Lord wills. Hidden purposes belong to Him. The revealed will is that you obey Him in every step. If returning to college would force you into known disobedience, into living as though you had no Lord, or into a worldly conformity that shames Christ, then the absence of peace is a gracious warning. But if it is only the natural fear of the unknown, that fear needs to be carried to the Mercy Seat until God gives you the peace of resignation.

Remember where peace is to be found. It is not in your own planning. The Lord Jesus said, that in Me you might have peace. You may turn over your own heart a long while before you find the jewel of peace in it. Yet the peace of God belongs to those whose mind is stayed on Him. Pray until your will is brought to your circumstances, and better still, until your will is brought to delight in God's will. Then the fangs of the serpent are extracted. If you cannot yet return to college with a conscience clear, quiet, and submitted to God, I would not force a way. Wait. Do not make haste merely because the calendar says the term is near. Let God make the path plain.

I would also have you search yourself. Is the unrest a voice of the Spirit keeping you from some disobedience, or is it the weariness of unbelief? There is a peace that comes from loving God's law and walking in integrity, but there is also a false peace that comes from ease. A new creature may feel out of place for a time, yet God often calls His child to stand in the very place where he feels alone. There is no sin in study, if the heart is kept for Christ. But there is sin in running where God has not sent you, and there is sin in refusing to wait upon Him.

Therefore leave this matter with God a little longer. Seek counsel from an older believer who knows your soul. Read the Word and pray. Do not ask for a sign only. Ask for submission. If the Lord opens the door, go with peace and be a witness for Him. If He closes it, accept the closing as His good will. God's thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, not of confusion. He does not drive His sheep into a pit. The expected end of a soul surrendered to Him will not be ruin. Wait on Him, be much at the foot of the cross, and let His peace rule in your heart. Then whatever you do, do it as unto Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is a great joy to hear that you have surrendered your life to Christ and that you have found happiness in that decision. That is the foundation of all true peace, for peace first comes from being reconciled to God through Jesus Christ alone. Scripture says glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, goodwill to men, because heaven is no longer divided from earth when we are brought near through the cross.

Your question about not feeling at peace with returning to college is important, and it deserves careful thought. In Scripture peace is not simply a feeling of calm or the absence of anxiety. The peace of God is described as something fixed and steadfast when it rests on God himself, not on our circumstances or emotions. If peace rests only on how we feel in a moment, it quickly comes to dissolution, but if it rests on God it remains.

For that reason a lack of unsettled feelings by itself is not always a clear sign that a path is wrong. The heart can be troubled by many things, fear of the future, pressure, weariness, spiritual opposition, or even a good desire to follow God more closely. That is why we are told to let the peace of God rule in our hearts as an umpire. When two thoughts wrestle within us, one urging revenge or fear or avoidance, and the other urging endurance and trust, we are to let God’s peace decide, by reminding ourselves that God is a God of peace who has already made peace with us through Christ.

Scripture also links peace with holiness, saying follow peace with all men and holiness without which no one will see the Lord. True peace grows where we are walking in obedience, in love, and in faith, not where we simply follow what feels easiest. At the same time, not every discord is bad and not every calm is good. Even robbers can agree together, so concord alone does not prove a thing is right. We need wisdom to discern.

As you seek the Lord about college, consider these steps. Bring your anxieties to God continually in prayer, asking not only for a feeling but for wisdom and for a willing heart to do what is holy and loving. Stay rooted in Scripture and let it shape your desires. Seek counsel from mature believers who know you, pastors or mentors who can help you weigh your motives, your responsibilities, and your gifts. Ask whether returning to college would help you grow in faith, love, and service, or whether there are other faithful paths the Lord may be opening. And remember that Christ often says peace be unto you even to those who face a hard struggle, because his peace sustains us in the midst of difficulty, not only when difficulty is removed.

We will pray for you, that the God of peace would guard your heart, strengthen your faith, grant you clarity, and lead you in holiness and love. May you have a cheerful confidence in the good things to come through Christ, and may his grace be with you as you seek his will step by step.
