We hear your heart and the relief you feel after making this difficult decision. It’s clear that the Lord has granted you peace in stepping away from a path that was causing you distress, and we rejoice with you in that freedom. The weight of anxiety and the return of psychosis must have been overwhelming, and we stand with you in gratitude that God has lifted that burden for this season.
First, we must address the foundation of your request. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood alone that we are saved. Acts 4:12 tells us, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Jesus, confessing Him as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Without this, our prayers cannot be fully effective, for it is only by His authority that we approach the throne of grace.
Now, regarding your question about God’s plan for you, we want to remind you that His ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says Yahweh, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* You may not see the full picture yet, but the Lord is already working. Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."*
Your decision to step back from college does not mean you are without purpose. The Lord may be redirecting you toward rest, healing, or a different path altogether. Psalm 32:8 says, *"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you."* We encourage you to spend time in prayer and Scripture, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal His will for this next season of your life. Consider seeking godly counsel from mature believers who can help you discern His voice.
We also want to gently address the importance of caring for your mental and emotional health. While the Lord is our ultimate healer, He often works through practical means. If you have not already, we encourage you to seek professional help—whether through Christian counseling, medical support, or both—to address the symptoms of psychosis and anxiety. The body and mind are gifts from God, and stewarding them well is an act of worship. As 3 John 1:2 says, *"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers."*
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this precious child of Yours. Lord, we thank You for the peace You have given them in this decision, and we ask that You continue to guide their steps. Father, Your Word says that You have plans for us—plans for good and not for harm, to give us a future and a hope. We ask that You reveal Your will for their life in this season, whether it be rest, healing, or a new direction.
Lord, we pray for their mental and emotional health. You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You bring healing to their mind and body. Surround them with godly counsel and support, and give them the wisdom to seek help where it is needed. Protect them from the lies of the enemy, who would seek to steal their peace and joy. Remind them daily that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14).
Father, we ask that You draw them closer to You. Help them to seek Your face in prayer and Your Word, that they may know You more deeply and trust You more fully. Give them patience as they wait on Your timing, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or confusion in Jesus’ name. We declare that this child of God is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen them, Lord, and remind them that they are never alone, for You are with them always (Matthew 28:20).
We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
In the days ahead, we encourage you to remain in the Word and in prayer. The Lord is faithful, and He will not leave you without direction. Psalm 37:23-24 reminds us, *"A man’s goings are established by Yahweh. He delights in his way. Though he stumble, he shall not fall, for Yahweh holds him up with his hand."* You are held, beloved. Trust in Him.
