I am blessed to have a job but it is toxic and mismanaged.

We stand with you in fervent prayer, lifting you and your son up before the throne of grace. The Lord is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Him (Isaiah 54:17).

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We ask for Your divine protection to surround this dear sister and her son like a shield. Lord, You are our fortress, and in You, we find safety from every enemy, whether they be neighbors, coworkers, family, or managers. Guard their hearts, minds, and bodies from any harm or evil intent. Let Your angels encamp around them, delivering them from all fear and danger (Psalm 34:7). We rebuke every spirit of strife, division, and malice that may be at work in their lives, and we command it to flee in Jesus' name.

Father, grant them discernment to recognize the schemes of the enemy and wisdom to navigate every situation with godly insight. Your Word tells us that if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask of You, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to us (James 1:5). Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in Your truth and not be deceived by the lies of the world or the enemy. Strengthen them in their inner being, that they may stand firm in faith, even in the midst of adversity (Ephesians 3:16).

Lord, we also lift up this toxic and mismanaged workplace before You. You see the burdens this sister carries, and we ask that You open the doors of opportunity for her to leave this place and step into a better environment, one that honors You and allows her to thrive. Your Word promises that You will supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). We trust that You have a plan for her and her son, a plan for hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). Guide her steps, Lord, and lead her to a place where she can make a difference for Your kingdom.

We pray for her son, that You would draw him close to You, protect his heart, and fill him with Your peace. May he grow in wisdom and stature and in favor with You and man (Luke 2:52). Surround him with godly influences and guard him from any harm or temptation.

Father, we also want to gently remind this sister of the importance of forgiveness. Your Word instructs us to forgive those who trespass against us, just as You have forgiven us (Colossians 3:13). Holding onto bitterness or resentment can hinder the blessings You have in store. We pray that You would soften her heart to release any unforgiveness and fill her with Your love and grace.

Lastly, we want to emphasize the power and necessity of coming to You in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). It is through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is by His blood that we are cleansed and made righteous. If there is any area of her life where she has not fully surrendered to Jesus as Lord, we pray that she would do so today. That she would confess with her mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in her heart that You raised Him from the dead, and she will be saved (Romans 10:9).

We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Be encouraged, dear sister. The Lord hears your cries and sees your struggles. He is working even now to bring about His perfect will for your life. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). You are not alone, we stand with you in prayer, and the Lord is your ever-present help. Trust in Him, lean not on your own understanding, and in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We hear the exhaustion in your words, the daily grind of looking over your shoulder, the ache of feeling trapped in a place that wears you down, and the deep, fierce love that makes you fight for your son as fiercely as for yourself. That takes immense strength, and we want to honor the perseverance you’ve shown.

When the hostility feels like it’s coming from every direction, it drains more than your energy. It muddies your ability to see what’s actually in your control and what’s not. One step that might help is getting a clear, concrete picture of what a better opportunity looks like, not just escaping toxicity, but moving toward something specific. Is it a particular kind of work environment? A different field entirely? A geographic move? Spending even fifteen minutes this week updating a resume or listing your undeniable skills can begin to shift your focus from what’s pressing in on you to the doors that might be opening ahead.

Discernment often starts small. When your workplace feels mismanaged, there may be modest decisions you can still make wisely today: a conversation you handle with extra care, a boundary you quietly strengthen, a way you protect your son from carrying the weight you carry. Trust that God gives wisdom for your immediate next right step, not just the distant exit strategy.

We don’t know how long you’ll be in this hard season, but we do know you don’t have to navigate it alone or without dignity.

Let’s pray:

Father, you see the pressure this parent and son are under from those around them. We ask you to be their shield, not a shield of isolation, but a steady presence that reminds them they belong to you and not to the judgment or hostility of others. Give them clear, calm discernment for the choices they face this week. Guide them toward a path out of this toxic space and into work that honors who you made them to be. Sustain them with your strength and protect their bond as a family through it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

The arrow of the enemy is often shot, whispering that God’s ear is shut and He will never move His arm for your deliverance. Yet this is a lie from the pit. The Lord has not forgotten you, nor your son. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, for the deliverance He works is effectual; He brings His own forth, even as He brought Israel from Pharaoh’s grip. When the lamb was slain, deliverance came, and Pharaoh could not hold them. So in Christ, your true Deliverer, every weapon hurled against you is shattered by the ransoming blood.

You ask for discernment, guidance, wisdom, and strength. These are all found in waiting upon the Lord. They that wait upon Him shall renew their strength. When you have no might, He increases strength. In the workplace, among neighbors and family, you feel your own strength failing. That is a mercy, for all strength apart from God is not strength at all and must come to an end. Cast yourself upon divine strength alone. The Lord says, “I will strengthen them.” He will infuse it, balance it, and give it gradually as your day demands. As your days, so shall your strength be. This is the poor man’s riches, the faint man’s cordial, the weak one’s strength.

You see a toxic place, mismanaged and wearying, and you yearn to leave for better opportunity. The Lord has chastened you sorely in this, but He has not given you over unto death. He will stay His hand when He sees you have no strength left. Underneath you are the everlasting arms. He wounds that He may heal, and He will bring you forth. When deliverance comes, you will find it accompanied with health and strength, such that you may march forward with no feeble step among your household. But know this, your hope to make a difference lies not in your own might, but in declaring the works of the Lord. If you had no troubles, you would have less to declare. After affliction and deliverance, the believer’s conduct is this: “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.”

The glory of your strength must lie in God alone. Do not look to your own job, your own abilities, or any human arm. Your deliverance from the power of this darkness is as much a work of God as your deliverance from guilt. Where you look for justification, there look also for your present help, to your heavenly Father altogether and alone. He has found a ransom; He has invented a way. Therefore, trust Him. The clock of mercy will strike the hour of your deliverance, for the eternal purpose of Jehovah has decreed it.

The Lord who walked upon the sea as on dry ground and bore His own weight upon the waves is able to shield you and your son from every assault. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, for His power is absolute and not dependent on any human strength. Yet take care: the greater danger is not from neighbors or coworkers, but from the weapons that form within your own soul when you are wronged. For the tempter is most active in times of confusion and fear, stirring up resentment and harsh words. Do not revile those who trespass against you. Remember your own former life and the sins from which God has delivered you, and be thankful rather than bitter. His grace is what sustains you, not your own virtue.

A considerate mind is needed, not signs and wonders. The Ninevites believed without miracles, yet many who saw Christ’s works grew worse because they did not correct their hearts. If you have been delivered from past trials and still harbor anger, you invite greater calamity. The demons return to an empty house. Instead, seek repentance with all your might. Even if you are in the depths of distress, repentance has power to set you free and to form Christ in you again. Pray not just for escape from the toxic place, but for a humble heart that sees every hardship as God’s call to turn from hidden sins.

Do not tremble at poverty or the loss of comfortable circumstances. The heavenly Father feeds the birds without barns; He will not let you perish. True contentment is not in silver vessels or the fear of others, but in a quiet conscience. The poor man often sleeps more soundly than the rich, who are consumed by envy and anxiety. Your desire for a better opportunity is not wrong, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Strength and wisdom come when you reject all self-glory and say with the Apostle, “Not by our own power or holiness have we made this man to walk.” Attribute every good thing to God alone, and He will guide your steps.

Endure the present trial as a soldier endures a twofold war: the open enemies and the secret deceivers. The tempter often uses those close to us to shake our faith. As with Job’s wife, the weak are seduced to speak against the Lord. Stand firm, and let your endurance be a silent victory over the passions. The lust of revenge, the beast of filthy speech, all are overthrown not by quarreling but by the quiet power of a holy life. Pray for your managers and family, and do not let their mismanagement steal your peace. God’s deliverance will come, whether by opening a new door or by transforming the very place you long to leave. Only believe, and do not let your heart be troubled.

The weight you are carrying right now is not hidden from the Lord. You and your son are not forgotten, even when it feels like enemies press in from every side, neighbors, coworkers, family, managers. It is no small thing to live with the constant strain of feeling watched, undermined, and spoken against. Many of the psalms were written in precisely that kind of storm. David, even in his older years, was still crying out, “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be put to confusion.” When the wicked come against you, when voices accuse and schemes are formed, your safest place is to turn those fears into prayer, exactly as you are doing. No weapon formed against you and your son will prosper, not because the threats are imaginary, but because God Himself is your shield.

There is a picture in Scripture of the builders in Jerusalem who worked with a trowel in one hand and a spear in the other. They were half laboring, half watching, because enemies were determined to stop the work. That is often the posture of God’s people in a hostile place: you do what you can with the tools in your hands while staying spiritually armed and alert. In your own life, you are holding onto your job, a real provision, even though the environment is toxic and mismanaged, while also keeping watch over your son and your own soul. That takes wisdom and strength. Keep asking for those gifts. The Lord teaches our hands to war and our fingers to fight, not only against flesh and blood, but against every spiritual attack that comes through those who set themselves against you.

You asked for discernment, guidance, and strength. David prayed, “Lead me in a level path because of mine enemies.” He wanted a smooth, unobstructed way, not to stumble while being pursued. God is able to make your path plain and to bring you out of this place into a better opportunity where you can truly make a difference. Cry out to Him for deliverance; He hears the voice of His servants. History in the land of Israel over and over shows that when oppression became unbearable, the people called on the Lord and He raised up a deliverer. He did not pretend their enemies were friends, and neither should you. Yet leave the vengeance to Him. It is easy to pray for mercy for ourselves and justice for those who hurt us, but do not let your heart grow hard by gloating over any downfall they may face. Trust God to handle what you cannot.

Right now, build what you can while you are still there. Guard your speech, keep your integrity, and set up healthy boundaries as far as it depends on you. And keep laying this before the throne: protection, an open door to leave, and the power to stand firm until that door swings wide. The walls of defense around you and your son can be raised quickly. Remember how in just fifty-two days the wall around Jerusalem was completed, despite every scheme to stop it. The enemy’s voice may be loud, but it will not have the final word. The Lord will strengthen you, make your bed in your sickness of soul, and lift your head above those who surround you. You are His servant, and He will not abandon you to their will. Walk forward with that quiet assurance, and when the door opens, step into the new season He has prepared, ready to make the difference you long to see.
