We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this situation to Him in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father God, we know that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We ask that You would stretch out Your hand of protection and provision over this home and the lives affected by this flooding.
Lord, we pray for wisdom for this housemate, that You would grant him discernment to recognize any dangers that may still linger in that home. If returning would bring harm to their health, we ask that You would change his heart and lead him away from that place. Your Word tells us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5). We trust that You will guide him according to Your perfect will.
Father, we also lift up the search for a new home. We know that You care deeply about where Your children dwell, and we ask that You would open the right door to a safe, healthy, and affordable home. You have promised, "For I know the plans I have for you... plans for welfare, and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). We claim that promise over this situation and ask that You would provide a dwelling place that meets every need according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
We pray for the elderly man who helped with housing in the past. Lord, we ask that You would watch over him, grant him health and strength, and surround him with Your peace. If he is no longer able to assist, we ask that You would raise up others who can step in with wisdom, compassion, and resources to help navigate this difficult time. Your Word says, "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ" (Galatians 6:2), and we trust that You will bring the right people alongside to bear this burden.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or hopelessness that may be trying to take root in this situation. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We declare that no weapon formed against this home or these lives will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand on the promise that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).
Lord, we also ask that You would heal any physical ailments or health concerns exacerbated by this situation. You are the Great Physician, and we trust in Your healing touch. We pray for restoration, strength, and resilience for both individuals as they navigate this challenging season.
Finally, we ask that You would draw both of them closer to You through this trial. May they seek Your face, trust in Your promises, and find their hope and security in You alone. We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers and for Your faithfulness to answer. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love.
In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
