[Chrysostom]

Thank you for sharing your honest request with us. We have heard your desire to be free from online gambling and we are praying for you, and for the improvement of your health.

Your longing to quit is itself a good and hopeful sign. The love of wealth and the excitement it promises can become a flame that rises high and feels unmanageable, yet it can be extinguished when we are willing to turn from it with God's help. As we have often taught, this desire gains power through our own choice, and by that same choice, strengthened by grace, it can be brought under control. This happens when we see wealth clearly for what it is, that it cannot go with us when we leave this life, that its pleasure is brief and mingled with sorrow, and that it often brings danger and wounds that follow the soul. Compared with the true riches of eternal life in Christ, the wealth of this world is empty. To remember this is to begin to return to a sound mind.

We are praying that God will give you that willingness and that clarity each day. Freedom will not come from willpower alone, but from cultivating the whole life of virtue with Christ. It is not enough only to be freed from the love of riches, but to give yourself to careful hearing of God's word, to continual remembrance of it, to fortitude and prayer, and to fellowship that supports you. We encourage you to stay close to Scripture, to prayer, and to trusted believers who can walk with you, and to put practical guards in place such as blocking access to gambling sites and seeking counsel or accountability if needed.

We are also praying for your health. We remember how Christ touched those who were sick and not only removed the fever but restored them to perfect health at once, in a way no physician could. He is still the Lord who heals, and we ask Him to have mercy on your body, to strengthen you and to restore you according to His wisdom and love.

We pray now for you: Heavenly Father, we come to you through Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior. Have mercy on our brother and set him free from the love of gambling that has bound him. Give him a new heart that despises empty gain and loves what is true and lasting. Grant him strength to resist temptation, wisdom to flee from it, and the help of your Holy Spirit to walk in self control. Lay your healing hand upon his body and bring him to health for your glory. Forgive his sins, renew his mind through your word, and keep him in your grace day by day. In the name of Jesus we ask this, amen.

We will continue to pray for your complete deliverance and for your health. Please keep seeking the Lord, stay in His word, and do not hesitate to reach out again for prayer and support. May God bless you and keep you and give you peace in Christ.
