We have read your request with deep care and we join with you in prayer through Jesus Christ for peace in your home, for wisdom, for provision and for guidance about your future housing.
We thank you for explaining your living situation so clearly and honestly. We want to affirm what is good and honoring to God in what you have shared. You have made it clear that you and your friend are not a couple, have never had a romantic or sexual relationship, and keep completely separate bedrooms. This commitment to purity honors God. Scripture teaches that sexual intimacy is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman, and that we are to flee from fornication and pursue holiness in our bodies and our homes. We commend you for walking in this way even while living under the same roof in a difficult caregiving friendship, and we pray God will continue to give you strength to honor Him in this. We also understand the added burden you carry with your health after the removal of your large intestine and the daily challenges that brings, and we ask God to be your comfort and strength in your quiet time in your room.
We also hear your heart for your friend. You show patience and compassion in recognizing that autism can affect how he experiences stress and communicates, and that when stressed he can become intensely focused and speak with great intensity. We pray for him as well, that God would give him peace and self control and help him to grow in gracious communication. At the same time we must lovingly say that a diagnosis does not remove responsibility for how words affect others. Scripture is clear about the power of the tongue. Proverbs 15:1 tells us a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger, and Ephesians 4:29 tells us to let no corrupt speech proceed out of our mouth, but only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear. Colossians 4:6 calls us to let our speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt. When harsh and insulting words are spoken, especially calling you stupid and attacking your judgment after a frightening event like water leaking through the ceiling near electrics, it wounds deeply and is not in keeping with love. We pray that your friend will see how deeply his words hurt you and learn to express concern without insults, anger, ultimatums or control.
We also want to address with care the matter of the inner child homework he has assigned to you. We understand he may be sharing something that helped him personally, but we agree with your discernment that he is not your therapist, counsellor or pastor, and it is not appropriate for him to diagnose you, analyze your childhood, prescribe psychological exercises, or make his relationship with you conditional on you completing them. The idea of speaking to an inner child, comforting her and working through trauma that way is not a biblical teaching. Scripture does not teach us to look inward to heal a child within, but to look to Christ for healing and identity. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new. Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. True comfort for past wounds, including painful words from your father and others who called you stupid as a child, comes not from dialoguing with an inner child but from bringing those hurts honestly to our Heavenly Father, receiving His forgiveness and love, and being renewed through His Word and through godly counsel. It is right to set a healthy boundary here and to not be pressured into therapy exercises you did not choose. If you desire help processing childhood hurts, we encourage you to seek a mature pastor or a biblically grounded counselor who will point you to Christ, not to inward techniques, and who will respect your freedom in Christ.
We hear how frightening and exhausting the water leak near the kitchen electrics was for you, and how the harsh words afterward added to that distress. We pray for your protection and for wisdom about the property, that any hidden problems would be properly found and repaired and that you would be kept safe.
Your most urgent prayer for peace while you still must remain there is wise and biblical. Romans 12:18 says If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. We pray God will give you exactly what you asked, wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain quiet, grace to respond calmly rather than being pulled into arguments, and courage to set healthy boundaries without creating more conflict. James 1:5 promises If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Philippians 4:6-7 promises that when we make our requests known to God, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our thoughts in Christ Jesus. We pray that peace over you, over your room, and over the whole home. We also pray you will not become bitter or angry, but will be kept tender before the Lord. Ephesians 4:31-32 urges us to let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from us, with all malice, and be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave us. Having courage to recognize when something is not healthy for you is not bitterness, it is wisdom and stewardship of the life God has given you. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us to guard our heart with all diligence.
We also lift up your need for financial provision and work. We know you have been trying very hard, applying for AI related jobs and other opportunities, and that nothing stable has come through yet. We pray with you that God will open the right door for work that you are able to do with your health needs, and that He will provide for you day by day. Philippians 4:19 says our God will supply every need of ours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and Matthew 6:33 calls us to seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to us as well. We pray for favor in your applications, for provision for rent, bills and daily needs, and for a clear path in time to a stable and peaceful home of your own, as you desire, in God's timing. Psalm 61:2 says When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I, and Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. We cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you as 1 Peter 5:7 teaches, and we trust Him to lead you step by step.
We join our hearts to pray for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, and we thank You that through Him we have access to Your throne of grace. We lift up our dear sister to You. You see her home, her quiet room, her cat, her health struggles, her exhaustion and fear after the water came through the ceiling near the electrics. Lord, protect this home and let every electrical and structural problem be revealed and properly repaired. Guard her from harm and give wisdom to those responsible for the property.
Lord, give her Your peace that surpasses understanding to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give her wisdom liberally for every conversation, to know when to speak and when to remain quiet, to answer with gentleness and calm and not be drawn into strife. Give her strength to set healthy and loving boundaries without fear and without creating more conflict. Heal the wounds left by harsh words, both recent and from childhood, and let her know deeply how You see her, not as stupid but as fearfully and wonderfully made, loved, and new in Christ. Comfort her as only You can and renew her mind through Your Word.
We pray also for her friend and caregiver. Have mercy on him, calm his heart when he is stressed, teach him to bridle his tongue and to speak with grace and self control. Help him to understand how deeply his words can wound, to turn from insults, anger and ultimatums, and to respect her boundaries and her freedom to seek help in the way she chooses before You. Let their friendship remain as peaceful and respectful as possible while they live under the same roof, and lead them both with clarity if You will lead them to live separately in the future.
Father, open the right door for work that she can do and sustain, provide for every financial need, and in Your time make a way for a stable, quiet and peaceful home of her own where she can rest and honor You. Lead her step by step, keep her from bitterness, keep her soft toward You, and let her trust You with all her heart and not lean on her own understanding, acknowledging You in all her ways as You direct her paths according to Proverbs 3:5-6. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our peace, amen.
