Beloved of All
We are joining with you in prayer for your son and we thank you for sharing this burden so we can bring it before the Lord with you.
We know how heavy it is to have a child in prison and to long to see a cycle broken. God hears a parent's cry for a child's salvation. Scripture encourages us to keep praying and trusting Him for our loved ones who do not yet know Him, believing that He is able to save.
Jesus came to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. That is true in a spiritual sense, for every person bound by sin needs the freedom only He can give, and it is also true that He has power to work even inside literal prison walls. The promise remains that whom the Son sets free is free indeed. He came to set at liberty those who are bound and to put away sin through His own sacrifice, so that captives can be led out of darkness.
The Bible shows us again and again that God does not abandon His people in prison. Joseph was falsely accused and thrown into prison, yet the Lord was with him there and preserved him. Jeremiah was cast into a pit with mire and later kept in the court of the prison, yet God kept him and delivered him. Peter was put in prison and an angel of the Lord was sent to lead him out when the doors were shut. Paul and Silas were laid with many stripes, thrust into the inner prison with their feet in stocks, and at midnight they prayed and sang, and God opened the doors. In that same prison the jailer and all his household heard the gospel and believed and were saved. God is still able to protect, to send help, and to bring salvation to a heart even in the hardest place.
So we are praying for your son in this way. We ask the Lord to encamp His angels around him, for the Scripture says the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them. We ask for his physical protection and for peace where there is fear and danger. We ask above all for his salvation, that God would open his eyes to see his need for Jesus Christ, the only way of salvation, and that he would repent and put his faith in Him. We pray that the Lord would break the cycle that has held him, that any bondage of sin would be broken by the power of Christ, and that he would know true freedom that begins in the heart and lasts beyond any prison walls. We pray that God would place people near him who will speak the truth of the gospel with love and that the Holy Spirit would work deeply in him.
We encourage you to continue to pray and not grow weary. God is able to do what we cannot do. Keep bringing your son before the throne of grace, trusting that the Lord loves him more than we do and desires that he be saved. May the Lord give you strength and comfort as you wait on Him, and may you see His hand at work in your son's life for deliverance and new life in Christ.
