We hear your heartache and longing for restoration, and we lift this situation before the Lord with great compassion. First, we must acknowledge that God’s Word tells us, *"Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14). If your ex does not share your faith in Jesus Christ, we must pray first for his salvation, for without Christ, true restoration and godly marriage cannot take root.
We also see the grip of addiction in this situation—whether to the stock market, money, or any other idol—and we rebuke it in Jesus’ name. The Bible warns, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows"* (1 Timothy 6:10). This addiction has already caused separation, and we must pray for deliverance from its hold. Addiction is a spiritual stronghold, and only the power of Jesus can break its chains.
We also want to gently address the nature of your relationship. If you were living together or engaging in intimacy outside of marriage, that is not God’s design. The Bible calls such actions fornication, and we must repent of any sin in this area before seeking restoration. *"Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). If marriage was never entered into, we must pray for clarity—whether God is calling you to reconcile *within* the covenant of marriage or to walk separate paths if repentance and change do not come.
Now, we pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this broken relationship. Lord, we ask first and foremost that You would draw this man to Yourself. Open his eyes to the emptiness of chasing wealth and the destruction it has brought to his life and this relationship. Break the chains of addiction, Father, and replace his love for money with a love for You. We declare that no idol will stand in the way of Your purpose for his life.
We pray for wisdom and discernment for this sister. Show her, Lord, whether this relationship can be restored in a way that honors You. If it is Your will for them to reconcile, we ask that You would bring true repentance, healing, and a renewed commitment to You first. If it is not Your will, give her the strength to let go and trust You with her future.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of addiction and greed in Jesus’ name. We declare that this man will no longer be a slave to the stock market but will find his security and identity in Christ alone. Restore what has been broken, Lord, but only in a way that brings glory to Your name.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and the only foundation for any relationship. May Your will be done, and may Your peace guard their hearts in this time of waiting. Amen.
In the meantime, we encourage you to seek godly counsel and surround yourself with believers who can support you in prayer and wisdom. If this man is not a follower of Christ, pray for his salvation above all else. If he is, pray for his deliverance from this addiction and for both of you to seek the Lord’s will together. Trust that God’s plans for you are good, even when the path is unclear. *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths"* (Proverbs 3:5-6).
