Disciple of Prayer
I am feeling so broken and am in emotional turmoil. At ### years of age, I can surely say this definitely the hardest thing I have ever been through in my life. I had gotten married recently and don't believe in divorce because of religious and personal reasons. I am so hurt because after I got married to my husband, I saw a side to him I had never seen before that is very emotionally abusive. For instance, he started a fight and yelled at me to get out of his car to leave and walk home because I missed his call (this was in a familiar area) and it makes me afraid he would do that to me in the middle of nowhere one day like the mountains or desert. He also told me he couldn't do this as in be married to me anymore, took my ring and left. Then, later comes back to because he wants to stay with me? It is such a head game. I know in the Bible it says if an unbeliever leaves, you are no longer bound to the marriage. This seems to be grounds to not be in sin if you separate or file for divorce. I had to file because I had no other choice. But the emotional turmoil, guilt of divorce, and shame is killing me. I never would have thought I would have ever had to go through a divorce before and it hurts because I have always dreamed of being married "till death do you part." I am crying as I am typing this right now because of the pain. I still pray for my husband and that God will save him one day and he will realize his actions. We are in the ### month waiting period of divorce. But my life feels so full of grief, regrets of getting married to him, shame of divorce, and the pain he has caused me. I am even feeling suicidal because the feelings are overwhelming, I wouldn't do anything to myself though. I guess I'm just asking for prayer for God to take these feelings away because I feel trapped in my thoughts and just want to breathe again and feel normal. My heart has felt squeezed and like it is on fire every day. Please pray for my husband too. I highly doubt he will change, but is it possible for God to do a miracle? Feels unlikely. It just hurts because I have not been in a relationship for ### years prior to him and even lost my virginity to him and I am feeling like this was completely all for nothing.

We are truly sorry to hear about the emotional turmoil and pain you are experiencing due to your marital situation. Firstly, we want to assure you that God cares deeply for you and your circumstances. Let's turn to the Bible for guidance and comfort.

In Matthew 19:6 WEB it is written, "So that they are no more two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no man separate." Marriage is indeed a sacred union designed by God to be a lifelong commitment. However, you mentioned that your husband has been emotionally abusive, which is not acceptable behavior and is addressed in scripture. In Ephesians 5:25 WEB, husbands are commanded to "love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it."

Regarding your feelings of guilt and shame, please know that God understands your pain and He is close to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 WEB says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Divorce is not God's intended outcome but scripture does address the reality. In 1 Corinthians 7:15 WEB, it says, "Yet if the unbeliever departs, let there be separation. The brother or the sister is not under bondage in such cases, but God has called us in peace." This shows that if an unbelieving spouse leaves the marriage God does not expect the believing spouse to remain in the marriage.

We must also address that you mentioned you are feeling suicidal. While we understand your pain, we want to remind you that your life is precious to God. In John 10:10 WEB, Jesus said, "The thief only comes to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." Please hold onto the promise of abundant life in Christ, and remember that God has a purpose for you.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ who is hurting and in need of Your comfort and guidance. Lord, we pray for Your healing touch on her heart and mind. Take away the feelings of guilt, shame, and emotional turmoil, and replace them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. We know that You are the healer of the brokenhearted.

Father, we also pray for her husband. We ask that You soften his heart and bring him to a place of repentance and salvation. We acknowledge that nothing is impossible with You, and we trust in Your power to perform miracles.

Lord, we come against the spirit of suicide and declare that You have a purpose and a plan for her life. Give her the strength and courage to face each day, knowing that You are with her always.

We also pray that Your guidance in her life will be made clear. We ask that she be filled with the Holy Spirit and strength to obey Jesus Christ.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to surround yourself with a supportive community of believers who can walk alongside you during this difficult time. Seek godly counsel and support, and remember that you are not alone. God is with you, and He will see you through this storm.

We're here with you, sister. We can't imagine the pain you're going through, but we want you to know that you're not alone. We're lifting you up in prayer, just as you've lifted your burden here.

We've been where you are, feeling trapped in emotions that seem too heavy to bear. But remember, God is close to the brokenhearted. He sees you, He hears you, and He's right there with you in your pain. In Psalm 34:18, it says, "Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."

We're praying for your husband too. We're asking God to soften his heart, to bring him to a place of repentance and salvation. We believe in the power of prayer, and we trust that nothing is impossible with God.

And please, please don't let those suicidal thoughts consume you. You are precious, you are loved, and you have a purpose. In John 10:10, Jesus said, "I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly." That's the promise we hold onto for you.

We're here for you, every step of the way. Let's walk through this together, in Jesus' name.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
