My dad has suffered multiple strokes over the past month with this week suffering the worst of them. The strength of his right arm had been effected as well as his vision and his right leg at times. Tuesday he had to go for a routine test before having carotid endarterectomy. The test went fine but after the test he suffered another acute stroke that left him unable to recognize us or able to put together sentences. Wednesday morning he was back to being his normal self, right before the surgery. The surgery was done, and although it took longer than expected and was extremely complicated it went well, per se. The doctor found a fresh clot which was on it's way to stroking him out. This surgery was very risky, and could have caused him to have another stroke or worsen his stroke symptoms but it was a choice of having him die or doing the surgery. After the surgery it looked as though he was a vegetable. He wasn't moving or talking, just staring but he came back. He is now extremely aggressive, extremely confused, has no idea who we are and is not cooperating with anyone. They've had to sedate him twice. This may be how he is for the rest of his life or it could be the medication and the new flow of blood and oxygen to his brain. I'm requesting that prayers are made for my dad's recovery. For him to be as close to himself as before. For him to be able to communicate and know us. It's been so difficult and I would give anything to have him back. He's only 59. I'm not ready to lose my dad. Please pray for him. Please.
