Your requests have been lifted before the Lord with care, and it is good to bring each of these burdens to Him together.
For the decision you are waiting for tomorrow and for your son's opportunity and the needs of your adult children, we pray that God will work in the best way according to His wisdom. Scripture shows us that He is the God of patience and the God of comfort, and that from the Scriptures we receive patience and comfort that lead to hope. He is patient in working out His purposes and He has never failed to keep His promises, so we can have hope that He will come through and meet needs in His time. We ask Him to give you peace as you wait, to take this weight from you, and to provide what is needed for your family in the way that most honors Him and is best for you.
For your injury and the doctor appointment, we pray for healing and for clear guidance toward full recovery. The Bible teaches that Jesus bore our infirmities as well as our sins, as Matthew points out when he quotes Isaiah that He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses. When Jesus broke the bread He said this is My body which is broken for you, and we remember that His suffering includes provision for our physical healing as well as our spiritual healing. At the same time healing often comes through the natural processes God Himself created in our bodies, and that process is no less divine because it is natural. Sometimes healing is immediate and sometimes it is gradual, and there is much we do not understand about why some are healed quickly and others over time, but we trust the One who knows all healing and we ask Him to restore you, to guide your doctor with wisdom, and to bring complete recovery.
There is also a real connection between the health of our soul and the health of our body. John wrote to Gaius that he wished above all things that he would prosper and be in health even as his soul prospered. That was John's loving wish, not a blanket promise, but it reminds us that a heart at peace and a mind strengthened by the Lord does good like medicine, while worry and heaviness can burden the body. We pray that as your soul prospers in fellowship with Christ, you will know His strength and peace in your body as well.
For your friend and her family who lost a baby in childbirth, there are no adequate words, and we pray that the God of all comfort will stand by them in this darkest hour. Paul called Him the God of all comfort because He had experienced God's comfort in afflictions, in dark nights and difficult situations, even standing by him through a long and terrible storm at sea to encourage him. He is the One who comforts those who mourn and those who are cast down. We ask that He will surround this family with His presence, lift them when they feel in despair, and carry them day by day. And as you see your friend, we pray that the Lord will give you gentle, wise words. The comfort we have received from God in our own trials is given to us so that we can comfort others with that same comfort. May He fill your mouth with grace, with listening and love, more than perfect words, so that your presence points them to His nearness.
We also join you in praying for protection and safety and health over your whole family and over generations to come. May the Lord keep you, watch over you in all your ways, and cause His peace to guard your hearts.
Father, thank You for hearing us. Thank You for the comfort You have given in times of trial and sorrow, and for lifting us when we were low. We bring this claim decision before You, this promotion, these financial needs, this injury, this grieving family, and this whole household. Do what only You can do, in ways that are beyond nature when needed, and through the ordinary means You have ordained. Grant wisdom, healing, provision, and deep comfort. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, amen.
