We have heard your heart and we are standing with you in prayer for your son as he goes before the court this morning and for you as you face your own serious situation tomorrow. We know this is a heavy burden, to have a son in prison facing threats on his life and carrying the weight of a gun charge, and we do not take lightly your request for grace, mercy, favor, and a turnaround miracle. God is indeed able, and we are bringing both of you before His throne together.
We want to gently remind you of something important we noticed in your request. You called upon God, but you did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to share with love that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. Romans 10:9 We encourage both you and your son to call upon the name of Jesus in repentance and faith, for He is our mediator, our protector, and our only hope for true mercy and grace.
We also want to speak with loving honesty about the charge itself. You shared that the gun was his friend's but your son is taking the charge. We understand the loyalty he may feel, but God desires truth in our innermost being and He calls us to speak truth. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. Exodus 20:16 and Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 Taking the blame for another when it requires deceiving the court does not honor God and can bring further consequences. True mercy and favor are found when we walk in honesty and humble ourselves before God, confessing what is true and trusting Him with the outcome. He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8 We pray that your son will choose truth, take responsibility for his own actions, and seek God's forgiveness and cleansing where repentance is needed.
We are praying for his protection and for his mind. Prison is a fearful place, especially when threats are being made, but we claim the promise that He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of Yahweh, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:1-2 and Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18 We ask God to place a hedge of protection around your son, to keep him from harm, and to guard his heart and mind. For God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7 We pray that God will heal his mentality, renew his mind, and give him the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
We join you in praying for favor in that courtroom and that the district attorney and the judge would act justly. It is joy to the righteous to do justice. Proverbs 21:15 We ask that truth would be made clear, that justice would be tempered with mercy, and that any closed doors over his life would be opened only if it is in accordance with God's perfect will for his good and God's glory. We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28
We lift you up as well for what you face tomorrow. We know you are weary and in need of a miracle, and we ask the Lord to strengthen you and uphold you. Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this precious son to You right now. Lord, have mercy upon him. Forgive his sins as he confesses them to You, wash him in the blood of Jesus, and draw him into a true relationship with Your Son. Protect his life in that prison, Lord, keep him from the hands of those who would harm him, and let him feel Your presence as his refuge and fortress. Heal his mind, calm his fears, and give him a sound and clear mind to make godly decisions. We pray for the court this morning, that every lie would be exposed, that truth would prevail, and that the district attorney and judge would act with fairness, wisdom, and justice tempered with mercy. If it is Your will, open doors that have been closed over his life and set his feet on a new path that honors You. We also lift up his mother to You, Lord, You know the serious situation she faces tomorrow. Hold her, strengthen her, let her cast all her anxiety on You because You care for her, and grant her a turnaround miracle according to Your will and for Your glory. Teach them both to trust not in man but in You, and to seek first Your Kingdom. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, Amen.
