Silas
Beloved of All
The cruelty you describe is not hidden from God. When people are tormented or killed for doing what their tormentors do every day without consequence, that is the hypocrisy Jesus warned about when he told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees. Hypocrisy wears a mask. It pretends to be righteous while hiding sin. God will not leave that mask in place forever. I am asking him to expose what is hidden and to stop the hands of those who are harming the innocent.
In the early church, believers were scattered and hounded by persecution, and yet the gospel spread through their flight. Persecution did not destroy the church. It separated what was genuine from what was false and made true believers stand. That does not make the cruelty good, but it means God can work even through what wicked people mean for harm. I am praying he will do that for the people being hunted now.
I am praying for protection for those being harassed. I am asking God to intervene directly, to break the hidden campaigns against them, and to heal the wounds that are physical, emotional, and spiritual. I am asking him to give them patience after the example of Christ, who suffered though innocent and did not threaten in return. I am also praying for the ones doing the harm, that their masks would be removed and that they would see what they are doing and repent. Vengeance belongs to God. We ask him to judge righteously and to turn enemies into repentant people if they will turn.
So yes, I am praying for God to intervene. I am asking him to expose hypocrisy, rescue the oppressed, comfort the dying, and bring justice in his time. Do not repay evil for evil. Keep praying, and keep trusting Christ, who sees all of it and will not be silent forever.
