Thank you for scripture and prayer. I try to turn to God when I am like this. I should feel so blessed by all that He has given. We understand how overwhelming anxiety can be, and we want you to know that God sees your struggles and cares deeply for you. The weight of constant worry about your job, home, and car can feel crushing, but Scripture reminds us that we are not to be anxious about anything. Instead, we are to bring our requests to God with thanksgiving, and His peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
*"Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."* (Philippians 4:6-7, WEB)
*"Cast all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you."* (1 Peter 5:7, WEB)
*"Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient."* (Matthew 6:25-26, 32-34, WEB)
Your anxiety may feel like it’s controlling you, but we encourage you to surrender these fears to God. He is your Provider, your Protector, and your Peace. When you find yourself spiraling into catastrophic thoughts, take a moment to pray and declare God’s promises over your life. Remind yourself that He is in control, and He has not given you a spirit of fear but of power, love, and sound mind.
*"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* (2 Timothy 1:7, WEB)
We also encourage you to meditate on God’s Word daily. Fill your mind with His truths rather than the lies of anxiety. If you’re struggling to eat or function, lean on Him for strength. He will sustain you, even when it feels impossible.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister to You, knowing that You are the God who sees and cares for every detail of their life. Lord, we ask that You would calm their anxious heart and replace their fears with Your perfect peace. Remind them that You are their Provider, and You know their every need before they even ask. Help them to trust in You completely, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands.
We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that has taken hold, and we declare that it has no place in their life. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give them the strength to function and the appetite to nourish their body. Help them to focus on seeking Your Kingdom first, trusting that all these things will be added to them.
Father, we also ask that You would provide for their needs—protect their job, secure their home, and keep their car running smoothly. Let them see Your hand at work in every area of their life, so that their faith would grow stronger each day. Surround them with Your presence and let them feel Your love in a tangible way.
We pray all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
We also want to encourage you to take practical steps to combat anxiety. Spend time in prayer and Scripture daily, even if it’s just a few minutes. Consider fasting from social media or news if it’s feeding your anxiety. And if your anxiety feels unmanageable, don’t hesitate to seek godly counsel or support from a trusted believer or pastor.
You are not alone in this. God is with you, and He will never leave you or forsake you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and trust that He is working all things together for your good.
