Can you help me with a situation on how to handle of a father and her daughter who are mad at my brother for trying to run à away because her daughter got hurt trying to hurt my brother . I don’t know what to do.

We have heard your request and we are bringing this difficult situation before the Lord with you, asking for His wisdom and peace to guide everyone involved. It is painful to be caught in the middle when there is anger and hurt between family and others, and we understand you feel unsure of what to do.

The situation you describe involves several hearts that need healing. When someone tries to hurt another and then gets hurt in the process, anger and blame can quickly grow, but Scripture calls us to a different way. We are reminded that a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger Proverbs 15:1, and that everyone should be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God James 1:19-20. We also hear the call to be peacemakers, for blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God Matthew 5:9, and so far as it depends on us, to be at peace with all men Romans 12:18. This does not mean ignoring wrongdoing. Trying to hurt your brother is not right before God, and the anger directed at him for trying to get away from harm is misplaced. At the same time, running away is not the lasting solution God desires. We are to not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21, and to not avenge ourselves, but give place to God's wrath, for it is written, Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19.

We encourage you not to carry this burden alone. We urge you to seek the help of a trusted, mature Christian believer, a pastor, or a godly parent or elder who can come alongside you and your brother and speak calmly with this father and his daughter. If anyone is in danger of being hurt, please seek help from safe adults and proper authorities right away. Encourage your brother not to run away, but to step toward truth and reconciliation with support. If he has done something that contributed to the conflict, help him to humbly acknowledge it as we are taught if your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone Matthew 18:15. Encourage the father and daughter to take responsibility for the choice to try to hurt your brother, and help all of you to forgive as the Lord forgave you Colossians 3:13, not letting the sun go down on your anger Ephesians 4:26. Listen more than you speak, pray before you respond, and trust God to bring clarity where there is confusion. If you lack wisdom, ask God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to you James 1:5.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ alone that our prayers are heard and our sins are forgiven, and we encourage you to place your full trust in Him as you seek His help in this situation.

We are praying together with you now.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this brother, this father and his daughter, and the one who sent this request. Lord, You see the hurt, the anger, and the confusion. We ask You to soften hearts, to remove the desire to harm one another, and to replace anger with understanding and forgiveness. Give wisdom to know how to speak and when to speak, and give courage not to run away but to face this with truth and grace. Protect this brother and keep him safe, guide him to godly counsel, and help him to walk in Your ways. Bring conviction where wrong was done and bring healing where wounds were made. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard these hearts. Help all involved to seek reconciliation that honors You, to speak the truth in love, and to pursue peace. We ask this in the saving and powerful name of Jesus, our only hope, amen.

We can hear how heavy and confusing this feels to be caught in the middle. You care about your brother and you also see a father and daughter who are hurt and angry, and it is hard to know what is yours to carry.

One thing that helps in a moment like this is not to try to fix it all at once while emotions are still hot. It is okay to step back, listen separately, and not get pulled into defending or deciding who is right on the spot.

A practical next step we would encourage is to bring in a calm, trusted third person rather than handling it alone. That could be a parent, pastor, or another respected adult who knows your family. You can share what you saw simply and let them help create a safer conversation where everyone can be heard without more hurt. If anyone is still unsafe or threatening harm, please make sure your brother has a safe place and get help from an adult right away.

We are praying for you as you walk through this.

Father, we lift this family situation to You in Jesus name. Give wisdom to know what to say and when to stay quiet, bring healing to the daughter who was hurt, calm the anger on all sides, and keep our brother and friend safe. Lead this toward what is right and peaceful in Your eyes. Amen.

May the Lord bring peace and understanding between this father, daughter, and brother. May He soften hearts, reveal the truth, and restore their relationship. May God grant wisdom to all involved. Amen.

- **Romans 12:18** — "If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."
- **Matthew 5:9** — "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."
- **Proverbs 15:1** — "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."
- **Ephesians 4:32** — "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."

May God bring reconciliation and peace to this family. 🙏

Your heart is heavy with a tangled sorrow, standing between those you love while anger burns on either side, and you scarcely know which way to turn. Such seasons are not strange to the people of God, for the Lord often permits us to feel our own helplessness that we may look more fully to Him who is wisdom and peace.

Remember first where forgiveness is to be found. There is forgiveness with God, and there is forgiveness with Him alone. It is a divine forgiveness, surprising and complete, not measured out by our merit but poured out through the blood of Christ. He forgave us at the first all our sins, and He continues daily to forgive, and that forgiveness is eternal. If you have tasted this mercy, you know that though your sins were many, His pardon is more. It is this pattern we are called to admire and then to imitate, forgiving one another even as Christ forgave us. It is a joint work of mutual forgiveness, and members of Christ's household should take large shares in it.

This does not mean that wrong is made right, or that hurt is counted as though it never happened. The Lord does not call evil good. But He does call His people to overcome evil with good, and to leave vengeance in His hands. Your brother sought to withdraw rather than to strive, and in that there may have been a desire for peace, yet even flight cannot heal a wound that needs truth and grace. The young woman who sought to harm him and was herself hurt now bears a wound of her own making, and her father shares her anger. Their wrath may be natural to the flesh, but it is not just, and it will not bring healing.

What then shall you do who stand between them

Seek the Lord first in prayer, and ask Him to give you a quiet spirit and a wise tongue. Pray not only for your brother, but for that father and daughter, that God would soften their hearts and show them their own need of mercy. No heart is so hard that grace cannot break it.

Speak the truth in love, and do it without taking up an offense that is not your own. Encourage your brother to act with honesty and gentleness, not to run from what is difficult but to do what is right and peaceable before all men, as far as it depends upon him. If he has done no wrong, let his conduct declare it with meekness. If there is any fault in him, let him confess it freely, for an honest confession often disarms anger.

Do not attempt to settle this alone. Seek the counsel of a mature and godly man or woman, perhaps a pastor or elder, who can hear all sides and speak with impartial wisdom. Where two or three are gathered in Christ's name, there is help to reconcile those who will not hear one voice alone. And while you labour for peace, guard your own heart from bitterness. It is natural to open our hands to those who have received so much forgiveness, and you have received much.

Rest in this, that the Lord sees all that is done and all that is suffered, and He will not forsake those who trust Him. He takes no pleasure in strife, but He rejoices to make peace through the cross. Cast this whole matter upon Him, and ask Him to make you an instrument of His peace, not by excusing sin, but by pointing every wounded heart to the One with whom there is forgiveness.

May the Lord give you wisdom beyond your own, keep your brother in safety and integrity, and bring that father and daughter to see that the way of anger is not the way of healing. May He teach you all to forgive as you have been forgiven, and to seek first His righteousness.
