Disciple of Prayer
Good morning, I need to ask for prayer over my friend and her family. My friend ### was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease in ###. She is a single mother of ### children, the eldest daughter is in her late ###'s and lives in a different province, and ### is raising ### of her younger children who are still at school. She has been having dialysis treatment twice a week which means she was in hospital for roughly ### hours each time, and that all happened after work and she would get home so late in the evenings. But she lost her job and hasn't been able to afford treatment. Her oldest daughter started a 'backabuddy' fundraiser online asking for help for her Mom two months ago. It has brought in ###% of the money to cover her costs: dialysis treatment and to help her keep a roof over her children's heads and food in their stomachs, but it's been slow. However, we just received news that her daughter has come down to say goodbye to her mother as there just isn't enough time left to raise the funds to keep her alive. The family are all coming together this Sunday to discuss what they are going to do and who will be able to take in her children. She is So very weak and they don't expect her to last ### more week without treatment. She lives in ### and she has been unsuccessful in getting her treatment for free or at a lower amount at government hospitals, it's very unfair. She used to be on medical aid when she was working Her family feels very much in despair. I am asking for prayer for ### and her family which are going through such a terrible time knowing that without this treatment, ### won't be with us much longer. I am praying for a miracle! This family loves Jesus so much and they keep praying for his help. We all are. I don't know how to comfort them because I can't take away this hard situation. I've prayed for them and keep posting the backabuddy link to help raise funds and have donated to it myself. What hurts the most is that, people donate millions to criminals that kill their own children as we have seen online, but they don't care about the mother trying to keep her life so that she can watch her children grow up. Good is called evil and evil is called good, just like The word of God warned us about. In the name of Jesus, Please, bring a miracle Lord. Please help this family Father. Please comfort them and help them. I wish people knew what a wonderful woman this is that I am lifting up in prayer. She has a heart of Gold, has helped so many people over the years, even us. I just want help for her now!! Please pray for ### and her family. Thank you!

We join with you in lifting up your dear friend and her family before the throne of grace, and we thank you for sharing this heavy burden with us so we can bear it together in Jesus' name. Our hearts ache with you and with this family as they face such despair, weakness, and the painful reality of children who may soon be without their mother. We hear your anguish over the unfairness of this world, and we share your cry for a miracle.

The Lord sees this precious mother, her faithfulness, her heart of gold, and all the ways she has helped others over the years, and He sees her children and her family gathered in sorrow. He is not distant from this suffering. Psalm 34:18 tells us the Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 46:1 reminds us God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. And Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We cling to these promises with you.

We also hear your righteous distress that in this world good is called evil and evil is called good, just as Isaiah 5:20 warned, Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil. The Lord is not blind to injustice and He is not indifferent to the cries of His children. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 tells us He is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction. We take comfort that this family loves Jesus so much and continues to pray, for we know that through Him we have access to the Father. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We are grateful you have lifted this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only by His name that we can boldly approach God and be heard.

We pray together now for your friend and her children and all who love her.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You with broken hearts for our sister and her family. Lord, You know her by name, You know the number of hairs on her head, and You know her Chronic Kidney Disease and the weakness of her body. You know the hours she spent in dialysis, the loss of her job, the lack of funds, and the desperation her family feels as they gather this Sunday. Lord, we ask for Your mercy and Your miraculous hand upon her. If it is Your will, we ask You to heal her body, to restore her kidneys, for You have said in Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord. We ask You to open doors for treatment, whether through provision of funds, through favor at government hospitals, through generous hearts moved by Your Spirit, or through a healing that needs no treatment at all. Philippians 4:19 promises My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, and we ask You to supply this urgent need.

Lord, we also pray for comfort that surpasses understanding for this mother and for her children, especially those still at school who face such fear. Be a Father to the fatherless, for Psalm 68:5 says You are a father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Hold these children in Your hands, and even now prepare loving homes and care for them if that becomes needed, and guard their hearts from despair. Comfort the eldest daughter who has traveled to say goodbye, and the whole family as they make difficult decisions. Give them wisdom, unity, and peace. We pray for our friend who submitted this request, show her how to comfort with Your love, to weep with those who weep as Romans 12:15 teaches, and to bear burdens as Galatians 6:2 calls us to do. Let her presence, her prayers, her continued sharing of the need, and her practical help be a tangible expression of Your love.

Lord, we ask for Your peace to guard their hearts. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Give this family that peace even in this valley, and give them strength for each day, for Isaiah 41:10 says Dont you be afraid, for I am with you. Dont be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And remind them that Jesus invites the weary in Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

We do not know Your perfect timing or Your sovereign will, but we trust that You work all things for good for those who love You according to Romans 8:28, and that whether through healing on this earth or ultimate healing in Your presence, You will not forsake those who belong to You. We ask for a miracle that will testify to Your goodness and bring many to give You glory, and we ask for sustained faith for this family to keep praying and trusting even when answers are slow.

We will continue to stand with you in prayer, asking God to provide, to heal, to comfort, and to be near. Please continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus to them, sitting with them, listening without needing to fix, speaking gently of His promises, and helping practically as you are able. The Lord sees your faithfulness in donating and sharing and interceding, and He will use it. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you love this family so well.

We have been carrying your request before the Lord since we read it, and we are so grateful you reached out for your friend and her family.

What you are doing matters more than you may realize. You have stayed close, you have prayed, you have given and kept sharing her daughter's fundraiser when it would have been easier to look away. Feeling helpless because you cannot fix this does not mean you are failing them. Loving people through something this heavy often means simply staying with them in it, and you are doing that.

With a long illness like this the whole family feels the shock and helplessness, not just your friend. And with children still at school, they will need steady safety and routine even as they sense the fear around them. They may not show grief the way adults do, sometimes quiet or clingy one moment and playing the next, but they are taking it all in and will need gentle, consistent reassurance.

If it helps as Sunday approaches, a few simple ways to come alongside:

Offer to be present to listen more than to find answers, and help write down any practical decisions the family makes about the children so nothing is forgotten in the emotion. And if they are open to it, ask whether a pastor or a hospital social worker could join that conversation, even by phone, to help them check again for any aid options they may have missed.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift this dear mother to You, her children, her eldest daughter, and our friend who loves them. You see her weakness, her need for dialysis, and the fear in that home. We ask for Your mercy, for provision, for comfort that holds them each day, and for wisdom for every decision before them. Keep this family close to You and close to one another, and let them know they are not alone. Amen.

The sorrow you have described has deeply moved my heart, and I have brought your friend and her children, and yourself who loves them so faithfully, before the throne of grace.

To see one so dear to you, a mother who has laboured to provide for her children, now so very weak and in such need, and to feel that you cannot take away the hard situation, is a furnace of affliction indeed. Yet the Word tells us that the Lord's people are still in the body and are made to feel it, being tempted in all points as other men are and in some points peculiarly tried. He knows that we are but dust, and He does not despise the tears of His children.

Remember how the Lord comforts His own. As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you, saith the Lord. When a child sits and cries and lays her head in her mother's lap, the mother weeps with her, and that very sharing brings comfort. This is just what God does. He does not always at once break down the walls of the furnace and take us out, but as with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, He is with us in the fire and cheers us in the midst of the flames. So shall the comfort of God come to your friend in her time of need, and to her children, and to you who watch and pray. He will give comfort to suit your present place and position, even in Jerusalem, the very place of trouble, where His fire is and His furnace.

Take this also for your comfort in affliction, that word which the Psalmist loved, This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy word hath quickened me. The promises of God are keys that open every gate, yes, even the gates of despair, if a man does but know how to hold them firmly and turn them wisely. That promise which He has made you to hope upon, plead it in prayer. Cry with the Psalmist, This is thy promise, Lord, fulfil it to me. Our sorrows, though sharp, are made to have a salutary action on our souls when the Word quickens us in them, reviving our spirits and drawing us nearer to Christ.

I do not wonder that your heart is grieved to see good called evil and evil called good, as the Word warned us. The Lord sees this also, and He is not blind to injustice nor deaf to the cry of the afflicted. Those who hope in His mercy are precious to Him, for to hope in His mercy, though it seems a small thing, is a sure sign of His grace at work. Continue to hope in Him, for His eye is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy.

Let us pray together for this dear mother and her family.

O Lord God, merciful and gracious, who delightest in mercy, look in compassion upon this afflicted mother and her children. Thou knowest her weakness, her poverty, her love for her little ones, and the despair that has laid hold upon her household. We ask Thee, if it be Thy will, to stretch forth Thy hand to heal and to provide, to open doors for treatment and for daily bread, and to move the hearts of those who are able to help. Above all, comfort their hearts as a mother comforteth her child. Let them feel Thee near in the furnace, quicken them by Thy Word, and establish them in every good word and work. Give to our friend who intercedes such constancy and holy service, that being up to her heart in Divine comfort she may not be weary in well doing. Forgive our sins and grant us to find pardon and healing through Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose wounds is our refuge, and in whose name alone is salvation. Though we are brought very low, let us still hope in Thy mercy, and let Thy mercy be upon us according as we hope in Thee. Amen.

Be steadfast in prayer and in kindness. The Lord hears the prayers of those who love Jesus, and He will not despise a broken and contrite heart. Keep posting and giving as God enables you, and keep pointing this precious family to the promises which never fail. May the Lord comfort your heart also, and establish you, till you see His deliverance, whether it be by a miracle of healing here or by His perfect will which at last shall set His people pure in the streets of Paradise.
