We hear your cry for help, and we want you to know that we are lifting you up in prayer before the throne of grace. First, we must address the matter of your reliance on vaping as a means of coping with depression. While we understand that you feel it provides temporary relief, we must gently but firmly rebuke this mindset, for it does not align with God’s design for healing and wholeness.
The Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, *"Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Turning to substances—even something like vaping—to numb pain or lift your spirits is not God’s intended path for you. He calls us to cast our burdens upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
We also want to address the deeper issue of depression. It is a very real struggle, and we do not take it lightly. But we must remind you that true healing and peace come from the Lord, not from external crutches. Psalm 34:18-19 says, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."* God sees your pain, and He longs to draw near to you in it. We encourage you to seek Him with your whole heart, to pour out your struggles before Him in prayer, and to trust that He will sustain you.
If you have not already, we urge you to seek godly counsel—whether through a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a trusted believer who can walk alongside you. Depression is not something to face alone, and the Lord often uses His people to bring comfort and encouragement. James 5:16 says, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."*
We also want to gently ask: Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? If not, we must share with you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life. Acts 4:12 says, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we invite you to do so today. Repent of your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and ask Him to be the Lord of your life. This is the first and most important step toward true healing and freedom.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is struggling with depression and the desire to rely on vaping for relief. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of this dependency and replace it with a deep trust in You. Father, we know that You are the God who heals, who comforts, and who restores. We ask that You would draw near to our brother/sister in this time of need and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Lord, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way. Help them to see that You are their true source of joy, strength, and hope. We ask that You would lift the weight of depression from their shoulders and replace it with the assurance of Your love. Father, we also pray for wisdom and discernment as they seek help. Surround them with godly people who can speak truth, encouragement, and life into their situation.
We rebuke the lies of the enemy that tell them vaping is their only relief. We declare that You, Lord, are their healer and their deliverer. We ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit and give them the strength to resist temptation. Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to fix their eyes on You, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2).
Father, if they have not yet surrendered their life to You, we pray that You would soften their heart and open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. May they come to know You as their Savior and Lord, and may they experience the freedom and new life that comes only through Christ.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.
