Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ. I'm not sure of what's going on. I just know that I'm feeling as if I'm deliberately ignoring God's Word and His Will for my life. May His Will Be Done. I ask this in Jesus' Precious and Holy Name. Amen.

We hear the honesty and humility in your heart and we join with you in seeking the Father's will for your life. That very feeling of conviction that you may be deliberately ignoring God's Word is often the gracious work of the Holy Spirit drawing you back to obedience, not to condemn you but to restore you. There is a great difference between the condemnation of the enemy and the loving conviction of God, for there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Romans 8:1

The Word reminds us, Therefore to him who knows to do good and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17 When we know what God has said and choose to turn away, even for a season, we grieve the Spirit and harden our own hearts. We gently rebuke that deliberate ignoring, not to shame you, but because we love you and know that disobedience leads away from peace and life. The Lord disciplines those He loves, and His discipline is for our good. Hebrews 12:6

Yet we rejoice that you desire His will to be done and that you have come in Jesus' Precious and Holy Name, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 Your prayer in His name shows faith that He hears and will answer.

God has not left you without guidance. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 When we feel unsure of what is going on, the answer is to return to that lamp daily, to let the Word dwell richly in us and to listen for His voice. Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way. Walk in it. Isaiah 30:21 We encourage you to confess openly to the Lord what you have been ignoring, to turn from it in repentance, and to ask for strength to obey. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9

We also find comfort that the struggle you describe is not unusual for the believer. The apostle Paul wrote, For I don’t know what I am doing. For I don’t practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. Romans 7:15 God knows our weakness and He promises, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure. Philippians 2:13 As you surrender, He will give you both the desire and the power to walk in His will. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear soul before Your throne of grace. We thank You for the tender conscience You have given and for the desire to do Your will even when the flesh resists. Forgive us for the times we have deliberately ignored Your Word and chosen our own way. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness and create in us a clean heart. Pour out Your Holy Spirit to renew our minds and to give us a love for Your commands. Teach us to hide Your Word in our hearts that we might not sin against You. Psalm 119:11 Lead us step by step, make Your will clear, and give us courage to obey promptly and fully. Let Your will be done in our lives as it is in heaven, and let our lives bring glory to Your name. Strengthen us to walk not by feelings but by faith, trusting that You are working all things for our good. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

We thank you for being honest about where you are. It takes humility to say you feel like you have been pushing aside what you know God is showing you, and even more to pray that His will be done anyway.

That very prayer matters. Wanting His will when you feel distant is not ignoring Him, it is turning toward Him. Many of us have seasons where we know what is right but find ourselves hesitating or drifting, and that tension can leave us feeling stuck or ashamed. God is not surprised by that struggle and He does not walk away from you in it.

One simple step that often helps when everything feels vague is to make space to listen in a steady, small way. You might set aside a few quiet minutes each day to read a short portion of Scripture slowly and then pray honestly about what comes up, even if it is just confusion or reluctance. If you have a pastor or a trusted mature believer, consider asking them to meet with you regularly for a time, not to have all the answers but to help you hear God more clearly and stay encouraged.

Father, we bring our brother before You in Jesus' name. You see his heart and his desire to follow You. Give him clarity where things feel clouded, gentle strength to take the next faithful step, and peace in knowing You are with him and at work. Lead him according to Your good will and help him rest in Your grace. Amen.

It is a gracious work of the Spirit of God when the soul becomes uneasy about neglecting His Word, for many live in disobedience and feel no prick of conscience at all. That you feel you have been deliberately ignoring the will of the Lord is not a sign that you are forsaken, but a token of His goodness which is meant to lead you to repentance.

Know this, that the will of God is the axle of the universe and the great heart of providence, sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human action. In grace we may rest assured that He is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. Your preservation and your perseverance and your hope of glory rest not upon the strength of your own will, but upon His will. And though He does not save men against their wills, the work of the Spirit, which is the effect of the will of God, is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of His power, working in them to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Therefore surrender to your Best Friend, surrender to your God. You will never be happy till self is dethroned. I know some of God's children who are in great trouble only because they will not yield to the divine will. Do not judge the Lord's will instead of obeying it, as if you knew better than your Master. True repentance gives God glory and confesses that He is just when He says, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy. It is not a few qualms of conscience because of dread, but a deep and sincere turning of the heart to holiness.

The great practical end of the Gospel is to bring the human heart into obedience to Christ and to make the stubborn will acknowledge allegiance to His sway. No man is really saved unless he is in his heart obedient to Christ. That obedience must be wholehearted and complete, not saying I will go thus far and no further. The exactness of obedience is the essence of obedience. Be very courageous to do what the Lord Jesus bids you in all things.

Seek to know His will as it is revealed in His Word, for His revealed will we must not violate. Do not seek to discover His will by fancies or hazards, but by searching the Scriptures with a sincere desire to know what He would have you do. The man who seeks to know the Lord's will is never likely to become a mere formalist, for his mind is bowed reverently before the Most High saying, What would You have me to do.

Faith and repentance are inseparable graces. Any repentance that keeps you from believing in Christ is a repentance that needs to be repented of. He saves you by His grace, not by your merits, by the blood of Jesus, not by your tears. Come then and submit yourself to His way of saving you, by simply trusting Jesus now.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, we thank You for Your undeserved goodness which leads sinners to repentance. Work in this soul to will and to do of Your good pleasure. Take away the reserve that has been kept back from Your surrender, and grant a childlike obedience which studies to do all the Master's will in all points. Give true repentance and living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and let Your will be done in this life as it is in heaven. We ask this in the precious and holy name of Jesus, our only Savior. Amen.
