We join you in prayer and we thank you for sharing your heart so honestly with us. We understand that feeling of being baffled about what God wants after being out of fellowship for a long time, and we rejoice that you are seeking Him again and desire His will to be done in all things. That desire itself is pleasing to Him. Scripture reminds us, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. James 4:8 and If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9. There is no need to feel your prayers are not enough, for God hears even the simplest prayer offered in faith through Jesus. We are told to pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 and to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us. We also rejoice that you prayed in the precious and holy name of Jesus, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and can know His will.
We hear your burden about your mother and your desire to honor her after caring for her for several years. That honoring heart is biblical and good, for we are commanded, Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you. Exodus 20:12 and again, Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise. Ephesians 6:2. The Lord sees your love for her and your wrestling over distance and what is right. Feeling torn between moving back to where she lives or inviting her to live near you is not a sign of failure, it is an invitation to seek wisdom. We are promised, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him. James 1:5. God does not want you to guess at His will, He wants to lead you. He says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8. His will is discerned as we renew our minds and walk closely with Him, Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2.
We encourage you to continue praying, but also to be in His Word daily and to not forsake fellowship with other believers, for we are exhorted not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another. Hebrews 10:25. A faithful local church can help you pray, provide godly counsel, and help you test what you sense God is saying, for in the multitude of counselors there is victory. Proverbs 11:14. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6. Share openly with your mother about how you feel, ask her honestly about her needs, her health, her community and her desires, and consider practical matters like her care needs, your work and church family, and where she can best be supported and thrive. As you seek Him you will find Him, for You will seek me, and find me, when you search for me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13. Do not be anxious, but In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
We pray with you now. Father in heaven, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You for this dear one who is returning to fellowship with You and who longs to know and do Your will. Forgive and cleanse and draw this heart close again, and let there be full assurance of Your love and grace. Pour out wisdom liberally as You have promised, and make Your will clear regarding this beloved mother. Show whether to move back to where she is, or to provide a place for her nearby, or what other provision You have in mind. Give honest and loving communication between them, give guidance through Your Word and through godly counsel, and give peace that surpasses understanding while the answer unfolds. Lead every step and let Your will be done in both of their lives for Your glory and their good. Help us all to trust You with all our hearts and to acknowledge You in all our ways. We ask this in the precious and holy name of Jesus, Amen.
