Prayer request

Thank you for sharing this honest need. I am praying for you and for your loved one, and God sees the weight you are carrying right now.

Your hunger is not a small thing to Him. He created our bodies to need food and He gave us the hunger drive to remind us of that need. It is right and proper to bring that need directly to Him. Jesus taught us to pray, give us this day our daily bread, which shows that God invites us to ask Him for the very practical provisions that keep us alive. Prayer begins and ends with worship of who God is, but in the middle He wants us to bring our daily needs to Him.

Scripture shows how much God cares about this. When Noah was commanded to preserve life through the flood, God also commanded him to gather and store all the food that would be needed for his family and for the animals for more than a year. God did not only plan for their rescue, He planned for their nourishment. Later in the law God made provision for hungry people to satisfy their hunger from the fields they passed through. He never intended His law to keep a hungry person from eating. And when human need was at its worst, during the siege of Samaria when hunger had reduced people to desperate things, God caused the enemy army to flee in panic and leave their food on the tables, their animals still tethered, everything in place. Inside the city people were starving and children were crying from hunger, yet outside the gates God had already provided more than the people could ever eat. He is still the God who can provide abundantly even when the need feels overwhelming.

That does not mean we are to be ruled by worry about food, or to let the need for it master our thoughts day and night. Our bodies will always need oxygen, water and food, but God did not create us to be slaves to those drives. To be occupied only with fleshly needs brings fear and death to our peace, but to set our minds on the Spirit, to live aware of God and in fellowship with Him, brings life and peace even while we still have real physical needs. Jesus is especially drawn to those who feel their need most deeply. If you feel desperate while others seem to have plenty, take heart, He sees you and cares for you.

God also does not call us to be passive while we wait. A bird does not sit with its mouth open waiting for food to fly in, it goes and seeks what God has provided. So keep bringing your need to God in prayer, and also take the active steps He puts before you to seek help, whether through family, local help, or those around you who can share resources.

Let me pray for you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one and their loved one to You. You know their need for food and You know the anxiety that comes with it. Thank You that You are our Father who gives daily bread and that You invite us to ask You for it. I ask You to provide for them in a very real and timely way, to open doors for provision that is more than enough, and to give them peace as they trust You. Help them to keep their minds stayed on You and not be overcome by worry, and guide their steps to the help You have prepared. Provide for their bodies and feed their spirits as they seek You. In Jesus name, Amen.

Please know you are not forgotten. Keep seeking the Lord and letting others know of your need so He can use His people to provide.
