Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly. I am praying with you for the rest and peace you asked for, for your whole household, and for safe travels and health in the days ahead.
The Lord knows the nerves you feel and He understands the need for calm tonight. Scripture speaks of a perfect peace that God keeps for those whose minds are stayed on Him, because they trust in Him. That is not a peace you have to work up on your own. It is a gift that comes as you turn your thoughts toward Him and lean on His care.
Jesus told His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. The peace the world offers depends on everything going right, and it fades quickly. His peace is different. It can guard your heart even when circumstances are uncertain, because it rests on who He is and not on how you feel.
In order to know that quiet peace of God in your heart, you first need peace with God, and that peace has been made through the blood of Jesus Christ. When you have come to Him and received forgiveness, you are no longer at war with God or running from Him. You belong to Him, and that brings a deep inner rest. From that place, as you keep your mind fixed on Him, His peace begins to fill your heart and life. It is a restful experience to know He will take care of what concerns you.
God has ordained peace for His people. He wants you to live in peace and to know His presence through the night. Think of how a shepherd would lie across the opening of the sheepfold, so that nothing could come in or go out without passing over him. The Lord Himself watches over you and your household in that way. And as Jacob saw in his dream, there is a ladder between earth and heaven with the Lord at the top, showing that heaven is open and God is near and attentive to you.
So I pray that the Lord will quiet your thoughts tonight, calm your nerves by His Spirit, and grant you and your household deep and refreshing sleep. May the peace of God which passes all understanding keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May He watch over your home, keep you in health, and grant you safe travels as you go out tomorrow. May you awaken restored, knowing that He has wrought your works in you and that you can rest in His hands.
