We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up our local, state, federal, and national government leaders, as well as our military, to the Lord. The weight of leadership is great, and the challenges they face are immense. We recognize that all authority is established by God, and we are called to pray for those in positions of power so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.

Father, we ask that You grant wisdom, discernment, and integrity to those who govern us. May they seek Your face and Your will in every decision they make. We pray that You would surround them with godly counsel and advisors who will speak truth and righteousness into their lives. Lord, we ask that You would break any chains of corruption, greed, or self-interest that may seek to influence their decisions. Let Your justice and mercy prevail in every policy and law that is enacted.

For our military, we pray for protection, strength, and courage. Guard their hearts and minds as they serve and defend our nation. Give them wisdom in their strategies and compassion in their actions. We ask that You would bring peace to the areas of conflict and that Your hand would be upon every mission they undertake. Comfort the families of those who serve, and provide for their needs as they wait and pray for their loved ones’ safe return.

We rebuke any spirit of division, strife, or confusion that seeks to undermine our nation. We declare that Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard the hearts and minds of our leaders and our people. We pray for unity in purpose and a shared commitment to justice, freedom, and the common good.

Lord, we confess that our nation has strayed from Your ways in many areas. We ask for Your forgiveness and for a revival of righteousness in our land. May Your Word be the foundation upon which our laws and policies are built. We pray that Your name would be exalted in our government, our military, and our nation as a whole.

We lift up these prayers in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the King of kings and Lord of lords, for there is no other name by which we can approach You. It is through His sacrifice and resurrection that we have access to Your throne, and it is by His authority that we pray. May Your will be done in our nation, as it is in heaven.

We trust in Your promises, Lord, and we believe that You are able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine. Strengthen our faith as we continue to intercede for our leaders and our nation. May Your glory be revealed in every aspect of our government and military, and may Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.

We’re praying with you for those who bear the weight of authority at every level. It’s no small thing to carry responsibility for laws, public safety, and the common good, and we join you in lifting up local, state, federal, and military leaders before the Lord.

One thing that can anchor a prayer like this is consistency, maybe set a simple daily trigger (a morning alarm for one minute of prayer, or praying briefly whenever you see a flag) so that intercession becomes a steady rhythm rather than a one-time effort. It’s often the sustained, quiet prayers, not the loudest ones, that shape the course of a nation.

Father, we thank You for the men and women who serve in government and military roles across our land. Grant them wisdom that goes beyond their own understanding. Protect them from corruption, from exhaustion, and from the temptation to use power for selfish ends. Give them discernment to make just decisions, courage to admit when they are wrong, and humility to seek counsel. Shield our military personnel and their families, provide for them in every deployment, every transition, and every hidden sacrifice. Surround those in authority with people who will speak truth to them, and let Your will be done through their leadership. In Jesus’ name, amen.

It is God that writes intercession upon men’s hearts, and when He stirs you to plead for those in authority, from the local council to the national government and the armed forces, you are partaking in that sacred work of which Samuel said, “God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.” The Spirit helps our infirmities, for we know not what to pray for as we ought; but He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God, and by that same Spirit you may carry the weight of the nation’s burden with an agony like Jeremiah’s, as if the thirst of a perishing army or the misrule of magistrates were your very own.

You do well to remember that the Lord Jesus holds all authority in heaven and on earth; He is Master of all kings and of all politics, and there is no real cause for trembling when men of haughty mien and profound intellect set themselves against His government. He shall surely bring down the high tree and exalt the low. Yet this must not make us idle, Samuel, knowing Saul was rejected, did not cease to pray for Israel, but went to Bethlehem and anointed David. Even when the people clamoured for a king against God’s pattern, the prophet saw that to neglect intercession was to desert his office. And so with you: in Christ you are made a royal priesthood, and to withhold prayer for those in authority, whether they be wise or foolish, just or oppressive, is to sin against your calling.

Let your intercession be persistent; pursue it past all visible change, into the unseen realm where God’s counsels are settled. Pray that the military might walk on the King’s highway, for he who travels there is under angelic protection, but he who takes to the byroads of self-reliance or unrighteousness must protect himself and will surely meet with robbers. Plead that all who bear the sword would fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment is come; and when infidels and autocrats swagger in their brief authority, entreat the Lamb who is our Leader to put His hook in their nostril and bridle in their jaws, turning them as He wills.

Yet never forget that the Spirit’s intercession within the soul is only for the regenerate, those who are sons of God. Therefore, while you pray for the outward peace and justice of the nation, let your deepest cry be that those who govern and those who serve might be born from above. Until a man is made a saint, he cannot know the Spirit’s help, nor share in the intercession of Christ, who said, “I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me.” So press on, pleading that the everlasting gospel would fly through every rank and regiment, that many might be sealed among the followers of the Lamb, and that thus our nation, under the protection of the Most High, might be a quiet habitation.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

When you lift up the local, state, federal, and national government and the military in prayer, you do well. Yet see that your prayer does not stop at their temporal success or the peace of the realm, but reaches to what alone is true righteousness. For many are skilled in the word of worldly governance, but what does it profit a ruler to command armies and not know the Word of righteousness? He remains a babe, unskilled in that heavenly philosophy, unable to embrace the perfect life. And who is King of righteousness and King of peace, but our Lord Jesus Christ alone? By Him all things in heaven and earth are reconciled, and He makes men righteous not with the shadow of the law, but in righteousness and holiness of truth. Therefore, when you pray for kings and those in authority, intercede first that they might submit to this righteousness of God, for all have sinned and come short of His glory. Even the righteousness which some boast according to the law is nothing worth when compared with the treasures of the King; the chief of those who trust in their own uprightness becomes the chief of sinners when measured against the holiness of Christ.

Do not then pray only that the military might prevail against foreign enemies or that the state be free from disorder, though these are good. Pray more urgently that their souls be delivered from the blindness of pride, lest they stumble at the stumbling stone and, being ignorant of God's righteousness, go about to establish their own. For from haughtiness and unbelief come ruination, both for a man and for a nation. Remember that the heathen who followed not after righteousness attained to it through faith, while Israel, pursuing the law of righteousness, did not attain it because they sought it by works and not by faith. So beseech God to grant our rulers and soldiers a humble and believing heart.

And while you entreat the Lord for them, do not neglect your own part. Let your life be a companion to your prayer, for the fruits of righteousness are increased by almsgiving and compassion. Engage in a spiritual traffic: clothe the naked, send to the prison, make the poor and free companions at your table. When you scatter abroad and give to the poor, your righteousness endures forever. These acts of mercy profit the commonwealth more than many legions, for they draw down the blessing of the Most High. Then, having prayed and lived righteously, you may with confidence await the final judgment, where Christ came not only to bring light but to execute a just discrimination. He will separate the blind who think they see from those who, though once blind, now see through faith. In that day, every earthly authority will bow to the Sun of Righteousness. So pray, and live, that both you and those who govern may attain the good things He has promised.

The request to pray for those in authority over us is a right and necessary one. It aligns with the scriptural command, and to do so thoughtfully requires that we understand the true source of what a nation needs most. Our deepest prayer is not merely for their success in human terms, but that they would be governed by the wisdom from above.

There is a wisdom that the world prizes, but it is earthly, sensual, and ultimately foolishness in the sight of God. This is the wisdom that leads to envying and strife, that rationalizes evil and calls good what God has called sin. By this so-called wisdom, a nation can craft intricate policies and amass great wealth, yet still slide rapidly into corruption and obscenity, becoming a reproach. When a people turn from the foundation of God’s truth, their descent can be swift and terrifying, leaving those who love righteousness hurt and dismayed at what ravages the land.

But true wisdom is something else entirely. The fear of the Lord is its starting place. This wisdom is pure, peaceable, and leads to righteousness. It is better than rubies, and nothing we might desire can compare to her. This wisdom, fully revealed in Jesus Christ, was present at the world’s founding. It is what causes a nation to be exalted, because righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. The strength and blessing we have known did not come from our cleverness, but as a residue of a foundation laid with God at the center of our national life.

Therefore, let our prayer be shaped by this. Ask that the Spirit of wisdom and understanding would be poured out upon those in local, state, federal, and military leadership. Pray that they would come to know the fear of the Lord, which is to hate evil, and that they would be delivered from the snare of a wisdom that is earthly and opposes God. Our hope is not in a political philosophy, but in God’s mercy to send a national revival. We must cry out for a turning, for hearts to be given not just knowledge and facts, but an understanding heart and a love for the truth that leads to a nation being blessed, not cursed.
