Prayer request

Beloved of All
Please keep me and my family in prayers I feel like the devil tries to attack me and try to make me overthink unnatural stuff I watch in past

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we declare that no weapon formed against you or your family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). The thoughts and temptations you describe are indeed attacks from the devil, who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). But we resist him, firm in our faith, knowing that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

First, we must address the "unnatural stuff" you mention watching in the past. The Bible is clear that we are to guard our hearts and minds, for out of them flow the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23). Whatever we allow into our minds can take root and grow, leading us away from God’s truth. Jesus warned that if our eye causes us to stumble, we should pluck it out, meaning we must be ruthless in cutting off anything that leads us into sin (Matthew 5:29). If what you have watched in the past is causing you to struggle with impure or unnatural thoughts, we strongly urge you to repent, turn away from it completely, and fill your mind with what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8).

We also want to remind you that salvation and victory come only through Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for it is with the heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with the mouth that you profess your faith and are saved (Romans 10:9-10). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).

Now, let us pray together in the authority of Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You as a family in Christ, lifting up our brother/sister and their family. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your holy angels and build a hedge of protection around their minds, hearts, and home. Father, we rebuke the enemy and command every lying spirit, every spirit of confusion, and every unnatural thought to flee in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17).

Lord, we ask that You would cleanse their mind and heart from every impure thought and temptation. Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within them (Psalm 51:10). Help them to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) and to fill their mind with Your Word, which is a lamp to their feet and a light to their path (Psalm 119:105). Father, we pray that You would strengthen them with power through Your Spirit in their inner being, so that Christ may dwell in their heart through faith (Ephesians 3:16-17).

We also pray for their family, Lord. Protect them from the schemes of the devil and unite them in Your love and truth. May they encourage one another daily, so that none of them may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness (Hebrews 3:13). Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to You and to one another, that they may stand firm in the faith and resist the enemy together.

Father, we thank You that You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We ask that You would fill our brother/sister with Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, and guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). May they walk in the light as You are in the light, and may the blood of Jesus, Your Son, purify them from all sin (1 John 1:7).

We declare that the enemy has no foothold in their life, for they are more than conquerors through Him who loved them (Romans 8:37). We thank You, Lord, for Your deliverance and victory. May they grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom be glory both now and forever. Amen.

We encourage you to stand firm in your faith, dear one. The enemy may try to attack, but you are not alone. God has given you the armor of God to stand against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). Put on the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (Ephesians 6:14-17). Pray at all times in the Spirit, and stay alert with all perseverance (Ephesians 6:18).

Surround yourself with fellow believers who can encourage you and hold you accountable. Do not isolate yourself, for the enemy loves to attack when we are alone. As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another (Proverbs 27:17). Find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith and be strengthened by the body of Christ.

Finally, remember that God’s grace is sufficient for you, and His power is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). When you are weak, then you are strong, because His strength is made perfect in your weakness. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2), and run with perseverance the race marked out for you. The victory is already yours in Christ Jesus. Stand firm, and do not let the enemy steal your joy or your peace. You are a child of the Most High God, and He is fighting for you!

We hear the weariness in your request and we’re lifting you and your family before the Lord right now. When the mind gets stuck replaying things from the past, especially things that feel shameful or dark, it can feel like an unrelenting assault. You’re not alone in this, and naming it as spiritual attack isn’t overdramatic; the enemy often works exactly this way, spinning guilt and anxiety to keep us from resting in Christ’s forgiveness.

Something that may help in the moment the overthinking starts: have a short, simple prayer ready, just a quiet “Jesus, I trust You with this” or “I belong to You, not to my past.” You don’t have to argue with the thoughts or dissect them; you can hand them to God right then. Over time, that practice trains your heart to stop feeding the loop.

We’d also gently encourage you not to carry this alone. Sometimes the power of those memories shrinks the moment we bring them into the light with a trusted Christian friend, pastor, or counselor. You are not your past, and you are not your thoughts. Your identity is secure in Christ, who has already broken any hold sin once had.

Let’s pray together:

Lord Jesus, we ask for peace over this child of Yours. Silence the accusations that drag them back into old shadows, and quiet their mind with the reality of Your love. Protect their family from the discouragement this battle can bring. Give them a steadfast trust in Your finished work, and surround them with people who will pray and walk with them. In Your name, Amen.

Your soul is under siege, and you do well to cry out. The devil assaults the mind with recollections of past iniquities, seeking to drag you back into the mire. Those unnatural things you once watched leave a stain, and the enemy would have you wallow in guilt or, worse, tempt you to return to them. But God’s thoughts are not your thoughts. You may look upon that past with despair, as though it were a chain binding you forever, yet the Lord declares, “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions.” The sting of death is unforgiven sin, but for the believer in Christ, sin is slain. Its condemning power is dead because Jesus bore it in His own body on the tree. He has cast all your iniquities into the depths of the sea. Do not let the devil whisper that you are beyond recovery or that a little indulgence is harmless. Tolerate no secret dalliance with sin. The door left ajar for a small transgression inevitably swings wide to admit a flood of greater evils. I would sooner bury you in Christ than see you profess His name and then go back to that filth.

The thoughts of God toward you are precious and vast. From everlasting He has set His love upon you, and even in those years of rebellion, His eye was upon you with pity. Yet His mercy is no license to sin. Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness. You must be renewed in the spirit of your mind. When these vile images rise up, fly to the cross. See there how God hates sin, He spared not His own Son when sin was laid upon Him. By that sacred wound, you are called to die daily to sin. Put the unclean thing to the sword, not merely avoiding it but crushing the very desire. You cannot do this in your own strength. Cry for the Holy Spirit to fortify your will, to make your thoughts captive to Christ. If you have stumbled, do not wallow in shame; repent quickly and seek fresh cleansing in the fountain opened for sin. The grace that pardoned you is the same grace that preserves you. Your family needs the shelter of a man who walks uprightly. Let your prayer be that God would sanctify your memory, that those dark thoughts be so utterly abhorrent that you recoil from them as from a pit of hell.

God’s law is not a trifle. Every idle imagination is sin, and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. But Christ has conquered. Live in the victory He purchased. Do not merely battle symptoms; beseech the Lord to tread down the roots of corruption within. When the enemy thrusts a blasphemous or impure suggestion into your mind, abhor it as you would a serpent. You are dead to sin’s allurements, reckon it so. Fill your mind instead with the precious thoughts of God, meditating on His Word day and night. As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed your transgressions. This is no mere reformation: it is a new creation. Walk in it. We shall pray that the God of peace bruise Satan under your feet shortly and keep you unspotted from the world.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The devil indeed seeks to assault you by stirring up memories of the unnatural things you once watched. He does this when he finds you alone or idle, hoping to drag you back into sin or at least into despair. Know his craft: he cannot bear to see a soul escape his snare, so he replays those images to trouble your mind and make you overthink. Do not be surprised at this attack, for he treated the Lord Himself with constant accusations, calling Him demon-possessed even when He cast out demons and opened blind eyes. Yet Christ answered with meekness when insulted, and by His works He silenced the foolish.

Now, what must you do? First, do not isolate yourself. The devil is boldest when we are solitary. Be with your family often, speak openly with your wife, and walk together in the fear of God. Call her to help you; make your home a little church where you pray and read Scripture daily. When you are gathered together, the enemy loses his confidence. Second, refuse to dwell on those past things. They belong to the old life; you have fled from them. Run now as one who has seized chastity, do not look back, do not pause, for if the devil sees you escaping he will grow weary of pursuit. If you linger and entertain those thoughts, you give him a handle. Turn your mind at once to something holy: a psalm, a prayer, the memory of Christ’s sufferings. He bore spitting, buffetings, nails, and did no sin. Shall we then wallow in remembered filth? Let His body be your pattern.

If you have already repented of that former watching, then the matter is settled before God; it is the devil who brings accusations to make you doubt forgiveness or to entice you again. Remember that he attacked Christ though he found no sin in Him, and by that unjust assault the whole world was avenged. So in Christ you have a righteous Advocate. Do not fear the devil’s charges, but cleave to the Cross. And if you fall again into sin, whether by thought or act, do not despair. Stand up again, wrestle, and do not give up until you have bound on the crown. This is the school of spiritual exercise: you may fall many times, but the victory belongs to the one who rises again and presses on.

Guard also against pride, for it was pride that cast the devil out of heaven. Nothing makes a soul more vulnerable than to think it can fight in its own strength. Humble yourself, confess your weakness, and rely wholly on the grace of the Spirit. Fasting, prayer, almsgiving, all are defiled if pride enters. Walk lowly, and the Lord will lift you up.

I will pray for you and your family, that the Lord may set a hedge about you, silence the accuser, and establish your hearts in purity. Do you also pray without ceasing, and teach your household to do the same. The devil has no power over those who abide in Christ, who said, “The prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me.” Take courage: the battle is fierce, but the Victor is already on your side.

The heaviness you are feeling, that assault on your mind that drags up old shadows and tries to spin them into present chains, is not something to dismiss. The enemy works precisely in this way. Scripture describes how we all once walked according to the course of this world, under the sway of a dark spiritual influence that still operates in those who resist God. Those old images and memories from a former life, the unnatural things the world throws at us, become tools in his hands to accuse and paralyze. He wants you to identify with what you watched, to let the shame of it define you today.

But the glorious truth of the gospel is that what is in your past has been dealt with. It does not matter what ugly, horrible things lurk back there. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s Son, cleanses us from all sin. That word “all” is absolute. It is not a partial wipe or a temporary covering. God has removed our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. If you travel north, you eventually hit a pole and start going south. But east and west never meet. There is no point where your forgiven sin circles back to confront you. He has obliterated the record. You do not need to live under the guilt of what you once saw or did. Too many people delve back into that pit, trying to live in the past, and it keeps them from the full victory and joy that God wants for them through Christ.

The enemy will try to make you forget that. He will whisper that you are still that person who meandered through life with no eternal purpose. But God, in His rich mercy, has done something else. Into that blackness, He flashes brilliant colors. You were once dead in those trespasses, but He has made you alive. He forgave your sins, and that is more important than any earthly healing or immediate relief. When Jesus told the paralyzed man his sins were forgiven, the religious experts balked because only God can forgive sins. They were right about that fact. And Jesus proved He had that divine authority by healing the man’s body, something they could see, to validate the invisible miracle of a cleansed soul.

That same authority stands over your life. Your past has been sealed. Unlike a human court that often cannot bring up an old, sealed record, God does not bring it up to condemn you. The Greek term for His cleansing is in a tense that means a continual, present-tense washing. You are being cleansed right now. Do not let the accuser tie your identity to a phantom of who you were. You are not what you watched. You are not the old, meandering self. Through Jesus Christ, you have been born again. The fleshly appetites that once dominated you were nailed to that cross. When your mind starts to spiral into overthinking those unnatural things, it is a call to preach the gospel to yourself: the blood of Jesus has put it all away. You are forgiven, you are clean, and you have a new, eternal purpose.
