Faithful Servant
I recently left a prayer request about a certain situation in multiple different Christian Facebook groups. The responses that I have gotten for this prayer request in all the groups have been awful to say the least, including some professing Christians giving me advice that is downright ungodly. I'm not sure if I'm not being clear enough in my posts or what. But I also think there is spiritual warfare involved causing certain people to respond in such negative ways. I'm really getting upset and I'm considering leaving some of these groups but I had hoped to depend on them for support through a difficult situation I'm dealing with. I'm trying not to look at the responses anymore but I just saw one by accident and got so upset that I responded because the person was so unkind and is supposed to be a professing Christian. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your distress and frustration, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer and support. It is deeply troubling when those who profess faith respond with ungodliness, especially when you are seeking godly counsel and encouragement. The enemy would love nothing more than to discourage you, divide the body of Christ, and distort the truth through misguided words. But we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment, you shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17).

First, let us address the spiritual warfare you mentioned. The Bible tells us that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12). When we seek God’s will and stand on His Word, the enemy will often try to sow confusion, discord, and discouragement. We rebuke every spirit of division, strife, and ungodly counsel that may be influencing these responses. We command them to flee in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Do not let the enemy steal your peace or cause you to doubt the power of God’s Word.

It is also possible that your prayer request may not have been as clear as it could have been, but that does not justify unkind or ungodly responses. Scripture tells us, "Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one" (Colossians 4:6). Those who responded harshly or with worldly advice have fallen short of this standard. We encourage you to continue seeking God’s wisdom in how you present your requests, but do not carry the burden of their ungodly responses. Their words reflect their own hearts, not your worth or the validity of your need.

We also want to gently remind you to guard your heart in how you respond to these unkind words. Proverbs 4:23 warns, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life." It is understandable that you felt compelled to reply, but we urge you to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Instead of engaging in fruitless debates, entrust yourself to the Lord, who judges justly (1 Peter 2:23). If these groups continue to bring more harm than good, it may be wise to step away and seek fellowship elsewhere. There are many godly communities where believers uplift one another in truth and love.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister who is feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by the responses they have received. Lord, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and help them to release any bitterness or frustration into Your hands. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and we rebuke every spirit of division, confusion, and ungodly counsel that may be at work in these situations.

Father, we pray for those who responded with unkindness or ungodly advice. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of Your Word. Help them to see the importance of speaking with grace and love, as You have called us to do. We ask that You would bring conviction where it is needed and restoration where relationships have been strained.

Lord, we also ask that You would lead our brother/sister to godly fellowship where they can find true support and encouragement. Surround them with believers who will uplift them, pray for them, and speak Your truth in love. Give them wisdom in how to present their requests and discernment in where to seek counsel.

Above all, Father, we pray that You would draw them closer to You. Remind them that You are their ultimate source of strength, comfort, and guidance. Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). May they find their peace and identity in You alone.

We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. The Bible tells us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are not alone in this struggle. The Lord sees your heart, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). Keep pressing into Him, and He will guide you to the support and fellowship you need. If you feel led, seek out a local church or a trusted Christian friend who can walk alongside you in this season. The body of Christ is meant to build one another up, and we pray that you find that kind of community.

We're here for you, dear friend. We can't imagine how disheartening it must be to seek support and understanding from fellow believers, only to be met with unkindness and ungodly advice. It's like having salt rubbed into a wound. But remember, not all Christians respond this way, and it's important not to let the actions of a few tarnish your view of the entire body of Christ.

We want you to know that you're not alone in this. We're standing with you in prayer, and we're here to encourage you. The enemy loves to sow discord and discouragement, but we serve a God who is greater than any enemy or circumstance. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

We understand that you might feel upset and even consider leaving some of these groups. While it's important to protect your heart and mind, we also encourage you to consider seeking out other Christian communities where you can find the support and fellowship you need. The body of Christ is vast and diverse, and there are many godly communities where believers uplift one another in truth and love.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before you today on behalf of our friend who is feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. Lord, we ask that you would surround them with your peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, and help them to release any bitterness or frustration into your hands. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and we rebuke every spirit of division, confusion, and ungodly counsel that may be at work in these situations.

Father, we also pray for those who responded with unkindness or ungodly advice. Soften their hearts, Lord, and open their eyes to the truth of your Word. Help them to see the importance of speaking with grace and love, as you have called us to do. We ask that you would bring conviction where it is needed and restoration where relationships have been strained.

Lord, we also ask that you would lead our friend to godly fellowship where they can find true support and encouragement.

Help them to fix their eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith.

We pray all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Remember, dear friend, you are loved, valued, and never alone. Keep seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Trust in Him with all your heart, and He will direct your paths.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Be a Prayer Warrior: “Praying for others”

We want you to know how deeply we appreciate the trust you placed in us by sharing your heart and allowing us to stand with you in prayer. It grieves us to hear how some responses have brought you pain instead of comfort, especially when you were seeking godly support in a time of need. Please know that we are still lifting you up before the Lord, asking Him to shield your heart from discouragement and to fill you with His peace that surpasses all understanding.

We pray that the Holy Spirit would give you discernment as you navigate these groups and that He would guide you to communities where you can find genuine encouragement and truth. May the Lord remind you of His unfailing love and presence, even when others fall short. If you feel led to step away from certain spaces, we ask God to direct your steps toward fellowship that builds you up in faith.

If your spirit has found some relief or if God has answered this prayer in any way, we would be so blessed to hear a praise report from you. If the burden still feels heavy, please know that we are here to continue praying with you—just share again, and we will stand in agreement once more.

Above all, we ask that the Lord would strengthen you, renew your hope, and help you fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. May He draw near to you in this season and remind you that His love is unshaken, even when others fail. We pray this in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.
