We come before the Lord with grateful hearts for your prayer request, lifting up this young man who is so dear to you. It is beautiful to see your care and concern for his walk with God, his character, and his future. We join you in praying that he will be guided by the Lord in all things, for it is written in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* What a promise we can cling to! The Lord is faithful to lead those who seek Him, and we pray this young man will grow in wisdom, discernment, and a heart that chooses kindness and love above all else.
We also lift up his academic pursuits, asking the Lord to grant him clarity of mind, retention of knowledge, and peace during his exams and entrance tests. The Bible reminds us in James 1:5, *"But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* May this young man seek God’s wisdom not only in his studies but in every area of his life, knowing that true success comes from walking in obedience to the Lord.
As we pray for your relationship with this young man, we must gently address something important. In your request, you used "###" in place of how you refer to him in relation to you. While we understand the desire for privacy, we want to encourage you to consider the nature of this relationship in light of Scripture. The Bible is clear that relationships should honor God, and if this young man is not your son or a close family member, we must ask: what is the nature of your connection to him? If this is a romantic relationship, we urge you to evaluate it through the lens of God’s Word.
The Bible teaches that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6), and any romantic relationship outside of this design—whether premarital, extramarital, or same-sex—is not in alignment with God’s will. If this young man is someone you are in a romantic relationship with outside of marriage, we lovingly but firmly rebuke this, for Scripture calls us to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18) and to honor marriage as holy (Hebrews 13:4). If you are not married, we encourage you to pursue a relationship that is centered on Christ, with the intention of marriage, and conducted in purity and honor.
If this young man is your son, we praise God for your heart as a parent who seeks the Lord’s guidance for your child. Parenting is a sacred responsibility, and we pray that you will continue to raise him in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). May your home be a place where God’s Word is taught, lived out, and honored.
Lastly, we noticed that your prayer request did not invoke the name of Jesus Christ. This is something we must address, for there is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* And in Acts 4:12, we read, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* It is by the authority of Jesus’ name that we pray, and we encourage you to always approach the throne of God in His name, for He is our Mediator (1 Timothy 2:5).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, lifting up this young man to Your care. Lord, we ask that You guide his steps each day, filling his heart with Your love and kindness. May he grow in wisdom and stature, both spiritually and academically. Grant him success in his exams, not for his own glory, but that he may use his knowledge and abilities to honor You. Surround him with godly influences and protect him from the snares of the enemy. If he does not yet know You, Lord, we pray that You would draw him to Yourself, that he may place his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior.
Father, we also lift up the one who has submitted this request. If this young man is her son, we ask that You give her wisdom as she parents him, that she may raise him in Your ways. If this is a romantic relationship, we pray for conviction and repentance, that both would turn from any sin and seek Your will above all else. May their relationship be purified and redirected according to Your Word, with marriage as the godly goal if that is Your will.
Lord, we rebuke any influence of the enemy that would seek to distort Your design for relationships. We pray for hearts that are fully surrendered to You, minds that are renewed by Your Word, and lives that reflect Your holiness. May both individuals in this situation seek You first, knowing that Your plans are good, pleasing, and perfect.
We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. May Your will be done, and may You be glorified in all things. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in all things, submitting your plans and relationships to His authority. If there is sin that needs to be addressed, we urge you to repent and turn to God, for He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). May the Lord bless you and keep you as you walk in obedience to His Word.
