Silas
Beloved of All
As our nation prepares for another election, many hearts are rightly crying out for peace. But the Scriptures remind us that genuine, lasting peace cannot be manufactured by political promises or human schemes. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. When a people honor God and His ways, they experience His blessing and tranquility. When they turn aside and forget Him, turmoil inevitably follows. So as we pray, we must pray not only for calm at the polls but for a national return to the Lord.
True peace for a country flows from individuals who have first made peace with God through Jesus Christ. There is no peace, says my God, to the wicked, those who persist in rebellion and refuse His rule. But to all who turn to Him, whether near or far, He offers healing and restoration. That deep, unshakable peace, the kind that steadies the soul even when the world is in chaos, comes only when our minds are stayed on Him. So pray that across this land, many would seek that personal peace, that hearts would be humbled, and that we would see a spiritual awakening.
When you bring this request before the throne, remember that prayer is not about getting our own will done but aligning ourselves with God’s purposes. We often want a particular outcome, but the greater need is that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Pray for leaders who will uphold righteousness, for the moral vitality of the nation, and for wisdom. But also pray, “Thy will be done.” The strength and future of any nation rest on its moral foundation, not its wealth or military might. Intercede that our country would stop attributing its past blessings to anything other than the Lord who established it, and that we would turn back to Him before it is too late.
Finally, do not let your own heart be troubled. In the day of trouble, those who know the Lord can still have perfect peace, because He has overcome the world. Let your prayers be filled with faith, trusting that God hears and is able to heal, restore, and guide. The storm may rage, but He speaks peace to His people and to His saints. Only let us not turn again to folly. May our prayers for the election be part of a larger cry for mercy, for revival, and for a nation once again under God.
