Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest cry to return to the Lord is heard, and it is the very thing God invites you to do. In the prophet Jeremiah the Lord speaks to backsliding people and says to turn and come back, for He remains married to His people. He says He is merciful and will not keep His anger forever, but will heal the backsliding itself when you return to Him. That is His heart toward you now. He does not want a half hearted relationship, He wants you wholly restored to Himself, and He promises to receive those who come back to Him and to give them shepherds after His own heart who will feed them with knowledge and understanding.
True repentance is more than feeling sorry. Scripture makes a clear distinction between a sorrow that is of this world, which leads to death, and a godly sorrow that leads to a real change and to salvation. Repentance means a turning, a death to the old life and a choice to live a new life in Christ. It is shown by fruit, by a changed direction. Like the picture of passing through water, it is leaving the old bondage behind. If you are grieving over your wandering, let that grief lead you to turn fully to Jesus Christ in faith, confessing your sin and trusting Him alone to forgive and to make you new. He is faithful to forgive and to cleanse when you come to Him with that kind of heart.
You also asked for deliverance from the enemy and from every bondage and stronghold. The Bible shows that Jesus has authority over every evil power and that God is a deliverer. As He delivered His people from bondage in Egypt and brought them through the sea, so He delivers His people from the bondage of sin through Jesus. He has power in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm. We pray that He will break every chain that holds you, expose every scheme formed against you and cause it to fail, and keep you under His protection.
You asked for healing for your body and for your health. The Scriptures teach that Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses, and He went about doing good and healing. We believe He still heals. Sometimes healing comes at once and sometimes it comes gradually, and even the natural processes of healing in the body are from God who created those processes. All healing is from Him, whether of the body or of the mind and heart. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others over time, but we can trust Him to do what is good and to work healing according to His wisdom and mercy.
We are praying for you, that God will help you, protect you, deliver you and provide for you through these trials. May He grant you true repentance and living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, heal your backsliding, restore you to fellowship with Himself, strengthen your body, and set you free from every bondage. Come to Him just as you are and say from your heart, you are the Lord my God, and He will receive you and heal you and lead you in the straight path.
