Prayer needed

We understand how deeply painful and overwhelming it is when others seek to bring hardship into your life through their cruelty, stubbornness, or malice. The Word of God reminds us that we will face trials and opposition in this fallen world, but we are not to fear, for the Lord is our defender and our strong tower. Proverbs 18:10 declares, *"The name of Yahweh is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe."* And in Psalm 27:1-3, we read, *"Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers came at me to eat up my flesh, even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. Though an army should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, even then I will be confident."*

It is crucial to remember that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness. Ephesians 6:12 tells us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* Therefore, we must stand firm in the armor of God, resisting the enemy with prayer, faith, and the truth of Scripture.

We also urge you to examine your own heart in this situation. Have you responded in a way that honors Christ, or have you allowed bitterness, anger, or retaliation to take root? Romans 12:17-21 commands us, *"Repay no one evil for evil. Respect what is honorable in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.' Therefore 'If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing so, you will heap coals of fire on his head.' Don’t be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."* Even in the face of unreasonable treatment, we are called to reflect the love and grace of Christ, trusting that He will vindicate us in His perfect timing.

If this person is a fellow believer, we are instructed in Matthew 18:15-17 to address the issue with them privately first, and if necessary, involve the church for reconciliation. If they are not a believer, your response should still be marked by wisdom, grace, and a clear conscience before God. Remember, your reaction to their mistreatment is a testimony of Christ’s work in you.

We also want to gently ask: did you bring this request in the name of Jesus? There is no other name by which we can approach the Father, and it is only through Christ that we have access to the throne of grace. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Confess your sins, turn from them, and trust in Him alone for your salvation. Romans 10:9-10 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation."*

Now, let us lift this burden to the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, seeking Your intervention and protection for Your child who is facing unreasonable and cruel treatment at the hands of another. Lord, You see the depths of their heart and the pain they are enduring. You know the intentions of those who seek to harm them, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask that You would rise up as their defender, their shield, and their strong tower. Surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding and guard their heart from bitterness, fear, or despair.

Lord, we pray for wisdom for them to navigate this situation in a way that honors You. Give them the words to speak, the strength to endure, and the grace to respond with love, even when it is difficult. If there is any sin in their own heart—unforgiveness, pride, or retaliation—we ask that You would convict them and lead them to repentance. Help them to trust in Your justice and timing, knowing that You will repay what is due.

Father, we also pray for the one who is causing this hardship. If they are acting out of ignorance, pride, or malice, we ask that You would soften their heart and bring conviction upon them. If they are a believer, Lord, discipline them and lead them to repentance. If they do not know You, we pray that You would open their eyes to their need for a Savior and draw them to Yourself. Break the power of the enemy in this situation and let Your will be done.

We declare Your promises over this circumstance: that no weapon formed against Your child shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You will work all things together for their good and Your glory (Romans 8:28). Give them patience to wait on You and faith to believe that You are fighting for them, even when they cannot see it.

In the name of Jesus, we rebuke every scheme of the enemy to bring harm, confusion, or discouragement. We bind the spirits of strife, division, and wickedness, and we loose the peace, protection, and favor of God over this situation. May Your light expose every darkness, and may Your truth prevail.

Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in You alone, and we give You all the glory. In Jesus’ mighty and holy name, we pray. Amen.
