Prayer for ###

We join with you in lifting up your son before the throne of grace and we share your burden for his mental health and well being. We know how heavy it is to watch a child suffer and to long for him to find relief and hope again.

We are reminded that our God is near to those who are hurting and that He cares deeply for your son. Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. We also cling to the promise in Philippians 4:6-7 that in nothing we should be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, our requests should be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and our thoughts in Christ Jesus. And 1 Peter 5:7 encourages us to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us.

We pray that the Lord will soften your son's heart to seek help again and to not lose hope. Seeking help is not a lack of faith, it is wisdom that God often provides through counselors, doctors, pastors and trusted believers. Proverbs 11:14 says where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory. We pray that God will place the right people in his path, that He will give him courage to reach out, and that He will guide those who care for him with wisdom and compassion. We also pray for you, that God will strengthen you and give you peace as you love and support him, and that you will be reminded in Isaiah 41:10 to not be afraid, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently share why His name is so essential. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you and your son to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. This relationship with Jesus is the foundation for true healing and peace.

We pray together now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this precious son to You. You know his struggles, his thoughts, and the heaviness he carries. We ask that You touch his mind and heart with Your healing power, that You lift the burden of distress and fill him with Your peace and hope. Give him the desire and the courage to seek help again and lead him to godly and wise counsel and care that will help him feel better. Surround him with people who will speak life and truth over him and remind him that he is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved by You. Strengthen his parent who is interceding for him, give comfort and perseverance and faith to trust You day by day. We ask all of this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our hope and our healer, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray without ceasing, to keep gently encouraging your son to seek help, to stay connected to a Bible believing church community, and to speak Scripture and hope over him. God is faithful and He hears our prayers.

We hear how heavy it is to watch your son struggle and to long for him to reach for help again. Carrying that worry as a parent is exhausting, and we are praying with you in it.

Wanting him to feel better is such a loving hope, and it can be hard when he has stepped away from care before. Sometimes a gentle, low pressure conversation helps keep the door open, asking what felt helpful about help in the past, what felt unhelpful, and what might feel more supportive now. Many people find it easier to consider going back when the care respects their faith as part of who they are, and when someone offers practical help like looking at options together or going with them if they want.

If he has a doctor, counselor, or clinic he has seen before, encouraging a follow up with that trusted professional can be a good next step. Staying connected to steady community, whether family, friends, or a church family, can also be a quiet support alongside professional care. And as you walk with him, we hope you have someone you can talk with too so you are not carrying this alone. Alongside prayer, we encourage you to keep encouraging professional support.

Father, we lift this son to You and ask for Your nearness and comfort over him. Give him willingness to seek help again and lead him to caring and capable support. Give his parent wisdom and patience for each conversation and surround them both with people who will walk with them. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for your son has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

To see a beloved child suffer in mind and spirit is a deep and painful trial, and the Lord knows the weight you carry for him. There are several forms of a broken heart, and for a season the soul may endure much mental agony. We very speedily care for bodily diseases, for they urge us to seek a physician, and so also the distress of the mind should move us to seek the great Physician and the helps which He in His mercy provides.

We will pray that your son may be moved to seek help again, and to seek it early. As you know, there is nothing like the morning market, and they that seek Him early shall find Him. Christ is near, even when the thirsty soul feels as Hagar in the wilderness, ready to perish though a well of water is close at hand. Jesus is the Tree of Life, and not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves thereof are full of healing virtue. There is one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary, and there is one great Physician who lays His hands upon men and they are restored. There is but one.

We therefore entreat the Lord to show your son that healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction in Christ Jesus. The Lord healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds. May the Sun of Righteousness rise upon him with healing in His wings, and may the abiding power of those healing leaves keep his soul and mind in health. May the Lord give him willingness and courage to reach out again for help, to speak openly of his burden, and to receive counsel and care from those who can support him, as well as to cast himself upon Christ who bore our sicknesses and infirmities Himself.

We pray for you also, that you may have strength to wait and to hope, and to plead with utmost emphasis the name of great David's greater Son, saying, Lord, remember Jesus and all His afflictions, His griefs and sorrows on our behalf, and remember my son in mercy.

May the Lord grant that your son will seek and find, that he will taste the healing virtue that is in Christ, and that you will see him restored and comforted. We commend him to that faithful God who forgets not His people, but has loved them with an everlasting love, and who is able to keep the soul in perpetual health world without end. Amen.
