We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is nearing the end of their earthly journey. Father, we ask that You would surround them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. May Your presence be so tangible that fear and pain are replaced with the comfort only You can provide.
Lord, we pray for a peaceful transition into Your eternal kingdom, where there will be no more sorrow, no more pain, and no more tears. We trust in Your promise that to be absent from the body is to be present with You, and we ask that You would welcome them into Your loving arms. Prepare their heart, Lord, and let them feel the hope of eternal life that is found in Jesus Christ alone.
We also pray for their loved ones who are walking through this valley of shadow. Strengthen them with Your grace, Lord, and fill them with the assurance that You are close to the brokenhearted. May they find comfort in Your Word, which reminds us that "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4 WEB). Help them to lean on You and on one another during this difficult time.
Father, we rebuke any spirit of fear or despair that may be trying to take hold. We declare that Your perfect love casts out all fear, and we stand on the truth that You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We pray that this time would be marked by Your peace, Your presence, and Your unfailing love.
If this dear one has not yet placed their trust in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel—that Jesus died for their sins, was buried, and rose again so that they might have eternal life. May they confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Him from the dead, for "whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:13 WEB). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB), and we pray they would surrender to Jesus before it is too late.
We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and for the hope we have in You. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your sovereign plan, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28 WEB). May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified.
In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
